Opinions/advice please.....

Well....broke another prop....was getting too close to the azalea bush and cracked the throttle to gain a little altitude and before I knew it, the thing shot about 30 feet into the bottom of a large pine tree branch....broke one of the front props in half...was still able to land it....ok ok... controlled crash.  However, I LOVE the way this thing flies!  Ok...now to my dilemma.  I have the video transmitter all the way to the aft portion of the quad and I have a lot of extra wires from the camera and VTX just kind of bunched up in  the back.....not very pretty and hard to get to things.  I could cut those wires to length and route them to wherever they are suppose to go and would have a much neater installation, BUT if I ever wanted to use that camera and/or VTX in another quad, I would quite likely have to make new harnesses for them.  What do you folks do....cut them to length for  the install you're doing or try and keep the original wiring so it could be used later in another installation?  I am leaning towards cutting them to length for this installation as I doubt they will be reused in another one.  Thanks for taking the time to read and any comments anyone cares to leave. Smile

For the most part I cut the wires to suit the build, as generally I will keep that quad until it dies a horrible mangled death and not worth repairing, I try to buy the same VTX's, ESC's, FPV cams for all my builds so I can swap out parts quickly, so, if I have a decomissioned quad and all it's parts removed I can then use the VTX as a spare for another one still in service.

You pretty much answered your own question, which is You would probably cut to length and leave it in that build. Smile

Yeah, I guess I did answer my own question. I just figured that there almost everyone on here has more experience building and flying then I do so I figured maybe someone had a valid reason that it was not a good idea to do that.....but I think I'll change it up tomorrow.

I really enjoyed the videos (very nicely done) and proximity flying is where I would like to go too, but I doubt that I will have the eye hand coordination and reflexes to be very good at it. Oh well. props are cheap. : ) I wish I had a place to fly like what I saw in your videos......they're kind of sticky about that sort of thing around here. Thanks for the input Bigg.....really appreciate it!

Yup cut them, no good in leaving them hanging around that can potentially get sucked into spinning props. Also it reduce weight and interference too

Yeah...gonna rewire it tonight, appreciate the input Oscar. While I'm doing it, is there a better way to attach the VTX other then sticky backed Velcro? It gets hot and the Velcro comes off leaving the VTX just floating around suspended by the wires. zip tie?

I use a combination of velcro and zip tie... works well for me! velcro keeps it in place, zip tie holds it tight to the frame.
or you can replace velcro with double sided tape.
