OpenTX might finally support T16 officially
#1
Amazing news, OpenTX might finally support the Jumper T16!
The news came from this request on Github, it's now merged into OpenTX 2.3: https://github.com/opentx/opentx/pull/6824
The biggest concern I had with the T16 was the firmware. Although JumperTX is basically OpenTX, but it's managed by the company itself so if anything happens to Jumper the users would be in trouble. It's such great news that OpenTX might finally support the T16 officially.
Jumper also released a Pro version of the T16, which I will review soon. It has upgraded Hall gimbals, and integrated RF module. The rest is pretty much the same as the original: https://oscarliang.com/jumper-t16-plus/
You can learn more about the original T16 radio here: https://oscarliang.com/jumper-t16-radio/

Sounds like it is a good time to jump ship to Jumper for those getting disgusted with Frsky.

Any internal charging with the Pro version? Does not sound like it does from your write-up.

I don't think so, will have to wait and see when i get mine next week.
But even if i didn't, it's a really easy DIY mod.

With this great news, and the Pro version of the T16 now released with the hall effect gimbals (which was a great move by Jumper), if my X9D+ ever dies I think I will seriously consider one of these. I've already read enough comments online from people saying that because FrSky are throwing their loyal customers under a bus with their new ACCESS equipment, they will be switching to Jumper equipment.

I'm sure FrSky are really happy about this OpenTX development. It's sadly just another nail in the coffin for them.

my days with the taranis became a countdown :-)
i read the articles about t16 and t16pro a few days ago and both would be my prefered choice at the moment
if there would come one with a bit less featers, samller screen, smaller body but more beautyfull and better body material than the t12, i would choose it.
the t16 looks nice, i like how thin it is and the integrated rf modul makes it very handy for use with crsf microtx. it seems to me opentx does solve any downside of t16.
multiprotocoll should be everywhere, its a shame we have to mess around that much.
i couldnt touch it somewhere, hopefully the ergonomy would feel well my hands.

:-) high hopes for the next giveaway :-)
