What's the deal with betaflight and VTX transmitters?
Neither of my PNP mini quads (admittedly old if not ancient models) have their VTX shown or even recognized in betaflight.

On one it knows it's an IRC Tramp TX and on the other (which supposedly supports both protocols) it doesn't even aknowledge it exists...
I've heard that as of version 4.something BF no longer auto something..?
On the one recognized as a IRC Tramp, I can't do anything with it even through goggle OSD as all the values are either - or x.
On the other I do believe I can control it completely through OSD... But not in betaflight...
(By the way, I am able to configure betaflight OSD through the tab and the VTXs through CLI)
But neither comes up in the presets search...
Is it worth using an older version of betaflight just to be able to configure them?

you have to setup a vtx table in betaflight now. It is some legal thing; i believe betaflight 'automatically' setting you up to use HAM radio stuff without checking if youre licensed. if you enter the setting and use it, you're the 'criminal', not them. (this is my personal description, could be wrong)

there are vtx tables you can just dump into the CLI if you know the model of vtx. the tramp is easy enough, the unknown models you can post pics of and the guys here could probably tell you, or you can see if you can find an old listing for the quad since it was a premade, and then google the vtx table once you know the vtx in it.

edit: apparently many vtx's have preset vtx tables in the presets tab, so you can just go find a tramp preset and itll do it for you. (https://oscarliang.com/smartaudio-tramp-...om-Presets)

Ah, so that's what it is...
Sucks because for the Tramp one if it's wired for IRC (which it was/is) disables the button on the VTX so I can only access it through CLI...I could not locate the jsm file or anything as it's pretty ancient.

The other is supposedly new... maybe too new as it doesn't show up in the presets search...

Using IRC Tramp or SmartAudio control from the FC doesn't usually disable the button on the VTX, but what is does do is to override manual any setting of the power level / frequency with whatever the Betaflight is configured with because those values get sent to the VTX from the FC during boot up and other operations.

You don't need to use presets. You can do it the "old fashioned" way by just manually configuring the VTX tables in the GUI or the CLI. IRC Tramps is the easiest protocol to set up the tables for because there is only one version unlike SmartAudio which has 3 different versions all of which need to be configured differently once you have figured out what version your VTX is actually running.

If you tell us what VTX's you have someone can probably provide you with the required VTX table configuration settings.
