Welcome to the best fpv forum there is, Jo, and congrats on your first build!
Have you used any simulators, or are you going to jump straight into the prop shredding!?

I've been flying on fpv freerider on and off. I try to get o it every other night, messing around with different rates and controlling alt, and turns. I've got most of it down. I don't think that the sim is true to real world flying though but I get how it can help me understand how the real quad will react!

For sure, there is nothing like getting out there and flying for real, exhilarating intensity every time! But sims do help to keep the thumbs 'in' when the weather is crap, and gets a lot of the basics, ie roll and yaw coupling in turns, into the muscle memory bank.

Also have you checked and double checked the continuity of your wiring while you wait? There is nothing worse than all the anticipation of waiting for parts, then the time and effort put into a build, to connect the battery and instead of your LED's, it's the wrong type of diode emitting light, heat, smoke and funny smells!

A smoke stopper is also a great idea for powering up after building or making changes.

Hi there Jo3d26,

Welcome to IntoFPV! It's great to hear that you're so close to getting that first build in the air. It's a great feeling and if anything goes wrong this place is a good spot to ask for help.

As a constant simulator user I can verify this. Simulators are not just like real life, however they do help you develop the movements needed for good flying. Now about 10-11 months into my own journey (wow it's almost been a year?) I've started to discover that the biggest thing that all of the simulators seem to not quite get the feel right on is throttle control and weight physics. For example I recently had a couple of weeks where I didn't get a chance to fly in the air but I had spent a good 15-30 hours of sim time those weeks in LiftOff. I finally got to do some flying on Monday and instantly I noticed on my first battery that I was constantly pumping the throttle getting used to real gravity again... however... once I re-adjusted myself a battery or two later I got some pretty good flying in that I am relatively pleased with.

All that to say... simulators aren't exactly like real world flight... but they work almost as good as real stick time and are a lot of fun too Smile

Wow thanks guys I'm going to look into that!! But I have gone over the quad multiple times and even changed a few things. I'm not going to be able to power it up for a few more weeks so I still have some time.. I'll be on the sim! there are a few questions I have about some technical things I will be asking later. Sorry work is demanding and I don't really have time for breaks! Thanks again you'll be hearing from me soon!
