Nobody told me 2" could be so fun!

Recently decided that my Mob7 wasn't cutting it, so I grabbed a Bassline frame and put the flight controller on there along with a bunch of parts I had kicking around in the drawer. Discovered that it's both incredibly cheap, and incredibly fun! Also I think I've been flying like a wuss because of all these expensive digital FPV parts. Haven't had this much fun flying all year!

1002 motors and 2015 props? Never too late to join the party
https://intofpv.com/t-1002-motors-and-20...s-thumbsup

If you want to throw a Walksnail on it, probably be more happy with slightly larger 1102/1103s motors.

How in the world did you read that? I mean, the motors are easy due to their appearance, but the props are a trick.

I use 1003 and 2023*3 props. I ordered new canopy and new frame to save weight. Will probably solder wick solder too. 44g is too much. Even 40g is too heavy.

I have the Bassline BNF ELRS Walksnail Edition
It's one of my favorites, I actually purchased real cheap, as the one of our local was selling supplier was selling on special for AU$299, that's less than US$200, I thought if it does not workout, I will simply use the parts on something else, what I didn't realise it's such a good flyer, and it turned into one of my favorites.

Big Grin Easy to spot a favorite combo. The 2015s are pretty fat for such tiny blades, I think that extra surface area helps a lot for a short biblade prop. If you can stay under 40g and pair it with a smaller 2S 350 pack, it'll be a lot of fun.

Very nice. Happy model motors? And which frame is that?

This walksnail version also with 1102s (Betafpv), but quite a bit heavier around 48g.

Yes, from HM. The Frame is the TWIGLET 2" from BetaFPV (4.5g).

Does that frame also fit 2.5", that seems to be the only one showing on their website.
The frame I am using is HGLRC Draknight which has huge CNC rails making the frame heavy around 17g. Mainly a cruiser, but probably the tri-blades are a better fit, been meaning to swap them out.

Ah, I get you. I hit 36g and I'm running a 2S 525mAh pack on it. Comes to 66g total. I've got some 2S 350 packs I used to use on this stupid Mob7 build I used to fly, but I'm not sure they'd be very snug in the tray. Seriously need to finish my stupid 3D printer. Have been putting that off for months even though I've got the hard part finished.

The 2" version is out of stock everywhere, but xt-xinte has an JMT copy of it: https://m.xt-xinte.com/JMT-TWIGLET-Mini-...11257.html

If he goes down that route, screw 1102 or 1103, go all out and grab 1202.5, maybe the HM 8000kv motors or the RCinP 6400kv, for some 2-3S action.  Or maybe those HM 1204 motors I was looking at.  Why settle for the 2" Prius version when you can go for the 2" Hot Rod. Tongue

Build something that is crazy fast and crazy fun to fly, then go make some sweet videos. Big Grin

As for the Twiglet Frames, I get them xinte, but via ebay, since it adds in the insurance that you will get your money back without hassle if they don't turn up.  They are my go to frame in 2" and 2.5".  i have a lot of them in my frames box.

relative stator size and thrust. RCinPower

1002 - 50 - 80g thrust. super weak. 2" only

1102 - 60 - ??

1003 - 75 - 130g thrust. 2" only

1202.5 - 90 - 220g thrust. 6000kv can run 3S 3" prop.

1103 - 91 - 200g thrust. usually weaker than 1202.5. usually used on 2.5" builds

...

basically, you dont save much weight with micro motor. But much weaker. Its well known efficiency below 3"/2.5" takes sharp dive.

winding enamel coat is thin, but is a huge penalty on micro motors. You often see 1S more efficient than 2S equivalent. The 1202.5 6000KV is the "last stop". For smaller motors, I think its preferable to just do 1S.
