No RSSI in STOSD using HUBOSD8-SE
#1
Now that my comms problem is solved, I am struggling to get the RSSI value on my OSD to display.

I am running the following firmware:

1. X4R-SB: X4RSP_NONEU_170322
2. HUBOSD8-SE: STOSD8-SE V1.5

I have connected the RSSI pad from the X4R-SB to the RSSI pad on the HUBOSD8-SE, but I am not getting an RSSI value displayed in the OSD. Measuring voltage on the HUBOSD8-SE RSSI pad gives a variable reading between 2.85v and 3.2v (on the bench), so there is some kind of signal. Reading with transmitter turned off is 0.02v

Any help available on getting this to work?

Did you turn on the RSSI ADC on?

In CLI type "feature RSSI_ADC" and "save"

I know it is somewhere in BFC but can't remember. I think it is in the configuration tab.

Was worth a try, but no cigar.

Not sure BF settings are going to make any difference. The X4R-SB's RSSI pin is connected directly to the PDB's OSD RSSI pin. As far as I know, both are PWM. I've also mailed the STOSD guys, hope they can shed some light.

Do you have telemetry? There are easier ways to get RSSI.

Yes, I have telemetry set up on my Taranis and “she” does squak at me when my signal is getting low, but I would still like to have it in view (osd) for peace of mind.

I am not familiar with STOSD, but you can create a channel to send the RSSI back to the FC. There are a few other settings you will need to do. On the minimOSD, it is just a matter of turning on display RSSI for the value. I am not sure if it is the same for yours.

So, without having a scope to actually test this, I've come to the conclusion that the X4R RSSI output is simply not compatible with the HUBOSD8-SE RSSI (pwm) input. So, I'm trying to find another route for my RSSI data. I have a few questions:

1. I've got telemetry set up on UART2 of my XRacer F303. Why does it not include RSSI? (Not seeing a value in BF)
2. If I connect the X4R RSSI output to the F303 RSSI input, will this give me RSSI in BF?
3. Once I have RSSI available via BF, is there a way to output that in PWM to my STOSD RSSI input? (want to test if this might make it work)

1. To get RSSI onto BF, you need to send the value back to FC.

2. I never dealt with analog RSSI, so I can't answer.
3. Not familiar with STOSD to answer.
