(Video is at the bottom of the OP)
So on Sunday as some of you may have saw in my shoutbox (live chat I think it's called here?) message I was planning to drive to a ghost town and to fly there. This was going to be a stop along my way from Atlanta GA to Charlotte NC as I headed for a conference that I am attending this week.
I happened to rent a big black Ford Excursion (the one on the right obviously lol) which instantly made me think of Men in Black for some reason...
So I packed up my flying gear... It seemed my cat Trixie wanted to go flying too!
So I loaded up the MiB SUV with my luggage and my flying gear (and my Baretta... you never know what you might bump into in the wild... supposedly there are bears out there in Georgia and who knows what else... you know... like Ghosts!)
Unfortunately when I got there the place was inhabited! Someone forgot to tell the ghost town people/website that you can't call a place a ghost town if the people living there are still living!
The great part was that just 20 minutes north of this place was an amazing little park with some nice people (who were a little too friendly and wanted to watch posing a slight safety risk so I had to find a more secluded area of the park) and a really great softball field. This was especially useful because it didn't have the big nets behind home-plate which made for some fun flying.
By no means am I smooth yet... there are plenty of corrections and jerky movements... but this video I think shows the progress and some of my emerging style as a pilot. There are a ton of cuts, but there were no crashes that day. I was flying "safe" or at least trying to avoid crashes by staying well away from obstacles as you'll probably notice. The cuts are because of time, so I cut out the boring parts where I am really just flying from one diamond to another to set up a trick without doing any tricks along the way.
I have another video that is forthcoming. It was actually from flying the 2 days before @ the RC park. It's got a couple of gutsy moves and lots of successful gate passes but I was so excited about this footage that I had to put this video together first.
Thanks to everyone who watches my n00bie videos as I learn! I hope that the backstory and the narration help add to the entertainment value of the video
BTW, song info:
