there is no possibility for a image sensor in the complete dark, light is a cams first need.
the minimum amount of light is described by lux. some cams suggested as nightcams are rated for 0,00001 lux, as lower the number as less light is needed.

a bigger image sensor does help to get a better picture out of low light. a lens lets a lot of light throw it does help, for nightvision the irfilter should be removed.

it needs light, infrared light is an option. you will get a poor black and white image... why not a true led floodlight?

oh ok is see .SO the smaller the lux rating is the better the cam will perform in night. It was just a suggestion  for the infrared  spot. Thx for your reply .

I’ve used IR spot lights with success (and I didn’t remove the IR filter).
Here’s a post for some random guy... Big Grin

I am wanting to set up my DJI FPV drone for indoor flying with an IR setup. Can the camera that comes with the drone be used with IR lights to help it see in the dark? IF not, how hard would it be to change out the camera for one with a better lux rating? *Sorry if this is a dumb question I am very new to fpv*

IR is used because you can move outside of visible light spectrum and your light source not be seen with the naked eye.
if you do not have to be stealthy, just use visible light not IR and keep things simple.
if you want to fly in the dark and it remain dark, use a camera with good sensitivity IR spectrum and IR illuminator. seek out night vision hunting forums for example.
