6 Apologies if I'm stating the obvious but did you check that the battery is connected correctly and the polarity is right?

139 If I had that TX for a long time, I would probably check the inside, but opening up the TX would probably void the warranty... so if they can get you a replacement I would probably wait...

31 Since you mention both the radio and the receivers I am going to guess you mean just the radio... as a recent purchaser of the radio I can tell you that mine shipped with a battery that could be charged in the unit and once charged was ready to be used. Chances are if you're having problems it's not because of an error on your part.
