Hi,
I'm a new member from the Netherlands.
I started into multirotors in August 2018 when I build my first 5 inch.
I still have a movie from the first time I powered the quad and heared the startup tones.
These days these tones seem to trigger endorphins.
In the beginning it was a pretty steep learning curve because of all the acronyms, brands, protocols, etc.
But thats also part of the fun for me to keep on learning things.
Currently I own two 5", two 3" and a Mobula7.
I like to build them all myself as much as possible.
I like selecting the components, building and the testing.
I started with a FlySky I6X and have recently migrated to a FrSky Q X7S.
The days are getting longer and warmer so now also the evenings can be used for some flying.
If there is any initiation ritual then maybe I endured it yesterday evening.
I lost video behind some trees and disarmed. Pulled up my goggles quickly hoping to see were it was falling.
But a 3" at 130 meters away isn't visible.
Ran across the field and heard the beeper (thank god the battery didn't eject).
After some good listening it appeard to come from the other side of a wide ditch filled with muddy black water and reed.
I found some rubber boots from my wife in the back of my car which were much to small but I hoped the would keep me dry.
It didn't. I sank into the mud almost to my ...
But I found the quad which is most important.
This is the downside if flying in the netherlands. We have to much water.
Went home in the car in my underpants with my muddy pants and socks in a trashbag.
Toke a shower but I swear I can still smell the rotten mud.
