New ideal build for filming cars
#1
So I am a drifter, and I want to build an FPV for chasing cars in between laps. Video quality is a must…I already have a 5inch frame. If you were me and were going to build a drone for chasing cars with video in mind. What would your ideal build be? I’m still new to this game and I’m slowly building, so $ necessarily isn’t an issue but lower $& is obviously better. Thanks in advance.

personal i would build a common racequad with a gopro on top. that needs to be flown fast, with much angle to get the props out of the view. that would give the agility for the closest possible shots. very difficult and higher chance for damage as more agility and closer goes more difficult.

for the most easy shots and still spectacular, a common freestyle quad does that job well.

I fly at drift events in my area -- you'll essentially want a 5 inch mini quad that can carry a full size GoPro with a battery in the 1200-1500 range so you can get a couple of laps in before landing. I'd look at something like an Apex EVO or a Source One V5, a Hobbywing stack with a 60+ amp ESC, and 6S motors in the 1800kv - 1900kv range for enough lift and speed for chasing. You'll also want to invest in some reasonable ND filters (don't go crazy on $).

Since you're a drifter you probably already know this, but if you get too close to the rear end you can easily get sucked down to the track if you're not careful. Another reason why you want decent motors, so you can power out when you need to. I've gone down because of this, and almost everyone else I fly with has done it too lol. It's not fun sitting in the corner waiting for the run to be over while your quad helplessly waits for you!
