Need help flashing rc timer ESC
#1
Hey Gang,

I tried following Oscar's instructions on how to flash the ESC using single wire and using clean flight method.

I got as far as being able to connect to the ESC using clean flight. I was even able to spin up the motors within blheli software.

The problem I get is when trying to read from the ESC. It seems like I can't write to it.

I also went ahead and tried the single wire method. Blheli no longer has this option and when I tried to flash arduino it didn't work.

Maybe I'm missing some steps?

I have an arduino uno, arduino nano, cp210x USB to UART and beta flight. I'll try whatever method works.

when you say you can't write to it, are you getting any error?

the one wire method has been renamed to "USB/COM" in the interface dropdown i think .

What ESC are you trying to flash?

I just flashed my DYS SN20A and Littlebee20A last week worked fine.

I just flashed my DYS SN20A and Littlebee20A last week worked fine.

I tried this again yesterday using arduino uno and doing the cleanflight passthrough.  My escs are 30amp rctimer with blheli (I'm not sure what version)
It looks like blheli suite detects my escs, I can even go to the motor tab and spin them up.

Anyway when I try to read the settings in the esc or connect to it one at a time it says to power cycle the esc and this wait screen pops up.  I can hear the esc power cycling, but it just gets stuck doing the same thing.

If I try to read all at the same time an error pops up.  I got the same result using arduino uno and the cleanflight passthrough.

I think of everything I've done in this hobby, this is the one thing that I can't get to work Sad

so 1-wire and pass-through both don't work?

Can you try "flash BLHeli" new firmware without reading them?

Could just be it's got old BLHeli firmware that didn't support these programming methods.

I did try just straight up flashing it but nothing happens.  When it detects the esc it doesn't show a name.  When blheli loads there's just "???"  under the esc name and version

Ok I was finally able to flash my esc. I should have read your blog more thoroughly. I needed to use pin2 on the arduino uno.

Anyway it was simon k now it's blheli 14.4 with damp light. I also set the throttle range for the escs already.

Now the new problem I'm noticing is that I'm getting an insane amount of wobbles. Is it normal to have to retune the pids after changing the firmware?

Thanks!
