18 Twigs by their very nature are lightweight, and they get by on crash resistance solely by their lightness limiting inertia.
For freestyle (inc learning) nothing beats a good 5" quad, IF that is you have the space and no legality issues.
Need to tell a little more about where you intend to fly and over what terrain (Grass, Concrete, etc)

14 I started last year and went straight to 5" and I don't think it's a great platform for freestyle. I even still have my Nazgul v2 that I've only replaced an arm on, kind of surprised thats the only sustained damage.Though I've since built several other 5s that are my go to.
Recently I've done a 3.5 and a 3" and I'll admit they're a blast to fly as well. Though I still prefer the 5" overall.

100 14-Dec-2022, 11:19 PM (This post was last modified: 14-Dec-2022, 11:24 PM by hugnosed_bat.) i believe the crux35 is a very versatile quad and a good choice for begginners.
replacement parts are relatively inexpensive, it can be flown as cruiser, freestyler or for racing on the right battery. the flighttime can be very long, there is also some range possible.

Here's a micro HD build I did with one of his frames - https://rotorbuilds.com/build/29783
I am looking for a bnf with either frsky d8 or d16 or dji reciver.

at this time. and that I have given myself a set budget and some of the quads I have looked at are more than my budget. I was given the great gift of DJI fpv system by my parents with the avata and want to stick with the HD digital system

As for your toothpick with DJI, how about a Babyhawk 2 HD - Comes with Digital VTX and FrSky
BetaFPV X-Knight 3 - Comes with Digital VTX and FrSky
GEPRC Smart 35 HD
