So im new to this great world, and Im trying to figure out if its possible to have altitude hold on the Naze32 Rev6 board. my friend who own a phantom 3 is always up in the air filming and every time he want me to stay in his shot, i cant casue I cant tell if im falling or rising since all i can see is the underside of our quads. I want to be able to let go of the sticks and have it just hover in one spot without rising or desending what do i have to buy? what do i need to configure? • Posts: 1,070 Threads: 70 Likes Received: 742 in 378 posts Likes Given: 577 Joined: Jan 2016 Reputation: 44 23-Sep-2016, 03:04 PM (This post was last modified: 23-Sep-2016, 03:05 PM by KonradS.) You need FC with a barometer sensor, like a Naze32 rev5 full. There may be new boards with that sensor available. Edit: you need to configure alt hold mode and alsobarometer sensor needs to be protected against wind gusts and direct sunlight. • Posts: 1,290 Threads: 67 Likes Received: 711 in 472 posts Likes Given: 1,216 Joined: Mar 2016 Reputation: 23 The Naze rev 6 full does have a barometer. IF you glue a piece of open cell foam over the barometer if will mute sudden pressure changes/temp changes. As far as letting go of the stick, the barometer will provide altitude control, but you will need GPS to maintain your horizontal position. You might get away with a few seconds, but even the most balanced quad will start to drift with out any stick input unless you're utilizing GPS. "Damn the torpedoes!!! Why direct sunlight? Note: I don't have any FC with a barometer, but this piqued my curiosity. (sorry don't know much about position hold other than what was said above ☺️) • Posts: 1,290 Threads: 67 Likes Received: 711 in 472 posts Likes Given: 1,216 Joined: Mar 2016 Reputation: 23 23-Sep-2016, 06:11 PM (This post was last modified: 23-Sep-2016, 06:14 PM by sirdude.) Now what makes you think anyone here would razz you??? As far as sunlight goes, I suspect it's because it will raise the temperature on the case too quickly, but I don't know for sure. I dunno, maybe someone from down under. Barometer measures air pressure and exposing it to rapid changes in heat and cold caused by going between sunlight and shade wil change the pressure a bit or make it go dumb. Not in a scale as wind gusts will, but add to that the fact that augmented modes are parts of our software that were not upgraded as fast as acro/racing scripts. Or maybe not at all.
