Naze32 Rev5
#1
Hello,

Working on a new build and just received a new rev5 acro board. I've never used one before so I followed the directions of installing base flight and the Silas driver. The problem I am having is when I connect the board, base flight does not seem to recognize the board. I tied it on Windows 8, and also on a MacBook. Before I try shorting the bootloader pads, I wanted to see if anyone has had similar issue as mine.

I searched online and it seems to be a common problem accept that on mine the comport shows no com port. Everyone else seems to have some other issue.

Any other suggestion would be helpful.

Thank you

Shaheed

I suggest not using Baseflight and switch to Cleanflight.

Few things to check:
- does the board receive power? do the leds light up?
- do You use proper USB cable? Some cables have power leads only, try another one (ie. one You connect to Your phone to transfer data).

Shorting bootloader pads works if COM port is detected. If it's not, there'e no point in doing that.

Thanks Konrad. Yes the board has power and has two less light up, the blue and the orange. I did try different mini use cables and same situation with all of them.

Okay I was able to work through windows and see that the driver is installed. The problem is I have a "code 10 error " for the driver, which seems to be a very general error. With all the searching on the net it seems that some people have had that issue without a resolutions for Windows 8. Someone was able to get it working on XP. I don't have a XP computer. Really frustrating when you expect the basic thing as plugging in and being recognized after the driver is installed.

Not sure what my options are at this point. Just want to do an initial connection to the board and then work on setting things up.

This might be a really silly question however I want to eliminate all possibilities. Do the pins have to be soldered to make any sort of connection for the board to be recognized? I have done anything with it yet because I wanted to first just sync with the computer to make sure everything works and maybe later flash clean flight. Can't do anything if the software won't pickup the board.

No, You don't need the pins at all to connect.

Have You seen that? http://community.silabs.com/t5/Interface...d-p/115901

Yes I saw that and followed the steps they suggested. I do think that person ever got it resolved. I had even tried the third party link someone else shared as a suggestion.

That's exactly where I am stuck.

Than I can't help You, maybe Your board is faulty - that happens.

Last thing You can try is connecting via FTDI on UART1 (TX RX pinholes)

As BigglesFPV pointed out; switch to CleanFlight (Chrome plugin). On the splash page you find links to the CP210x and STM USB VCP drivers as well as Zadig. With those in place you should be able to connect to your Naze32. I have the same setup (it took me some messing around until I got it working on Win8/10). Don't give in just yet. While faulty units exist they're quite uncommon.

Hello,

So I tried installing the drivers from the links on cleanflight. Restarted computer and again tried it, still issues connecting to the board. I contacted the seller and explained everything I have tried. The seller will send me another board to try out as it could be that it's bad.

Since I have the faulty board still with me I was trying to figure out how everything gets wired up on the naze32. In the below pic on the left where it says rev5, I noticed there are holes to wire something. I am a bit puzzled because all the boards I see online seem to have a solid pad. How do I go about wiring them correctly as nothing is marked. This setup will be ppm

Thank you

I can only guess those are - + 1 2 3 (... etc channels). PPM should go to - + 1.

You can check " - " by doing a continuity test with other ground. " + " with other " + ".

I still need to test it, however tKing an educated guess I think the top holes would have been for the top pins on the solid pad and the bottom for the bottom 5,6,7,8.

Thank you for your help

Haven't seen that layout before either, but I'd go with your guess that it has holes instead of pads. I kinda like that idea, but of course it chews up more space on the controller than pads  Undecided
