Naze32 Problem After Crash
#1
I crashed the quadcopter quite hard today and now I have a few problems. I have stripped all the electronics from the quad and I've currently soldered them together to bypass the PDB which is what I thought was broken. My receiver wasn't turning on so I took a 5v feed from the motor pins to power it, it now works fine.

My next problem is the Naze32 board only works when plugged into the USB. The ESC's don't beep unless the USB is plugged in, everything lights up as it should. Arming works perfectly as do the motors from the transmitter and in Cleanflight itself once the USB cable is plugged in.

I'm not sure what is wrong. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.

Should use a CC3D Wink haha

No but seriously i never realised you hit that hard :O

Have you tried to reflash cleanflight just to eliminate that as a possibility?

Reflashed it a few times.

The receiver gets 5V from your naze32 right? After the crash, it wont turn on. So perhaps the 5V source you used is broken. When its plugged into the USB it works, because it's getting 5V from the USB port. Try power the naze32 from a different 5V input.

Just done a quick search and there seems to be a few people who have been in your situation all having the same issue and solution, buying a new naze.

I really hope someone here will be able to help you out. I will have another look online but it doesn't look promising unfortunately. Sad

If arming works with the USB plugged in wouldn't that the 5v from the motor pin is also working as it should be?

Yes, but the motor pin also getting clean 5V from the USB port. Try to hook the naze32 up to your phone charger, not PC. Will it arm?

It works! I plugged my phone charger in and it powered up as it should with the motors working. I'm presuming the 5v from the motor pins no longer works after the crash, so I need to figure out how to supply the board with a clean 5v.

Thanks.

Just use a multimeter and find a 5V spot that is connected to the 5V pin of the USB connector Smile Should be more than enough spots there.

BTW where do you get your 5V from on the quad? BEC, PDB or voltage regulator?

Currently the 5V comes from the built in BEC in the ESCs. I'll check the board tonight with my multimeter and see what is going on.

Just tested the board with a multimeter and only half is getting 5V. I've found a way of sorting it so it should be OK.

Good to hear that you dont have to buy a new naze Smile

This would make a pretty good tutorial a nice write up with pics. Seems like these symptomes keep popping up plus seems like an ez fix for someone new.

My fix was more of a bodge and wouldn't be very permanent especially in a crash. I have ordered a new Naze32 board to use instead.
