My way learning throttle control
#1
Been looking at some of my older videos and come across this one..It is how I forced myself to learn throttle control. Almost a year ago now.  Just make sure you adjust your volume before watching as it is raw audio.

Nice one.......up until the very end. Sad   I don't have so much a problem with throttle control, my problem is with finding the right balance of pitch and throttle to move continually forward....slowly...... with out falling out of the siky.  Oh well....practice practice practice...... Yeah, all videos are pretty much good..until the end, when those damn trees snatch you out of the air.

People always tell you that you should always go forward, but that is only from people who can't fly backwards..LOL

If you are aware of your surroundings you can fly backwards quite easy and is a lot of fun doing so, mind you, I have eaten lots of trees going backwards..LMAO. there is not a day that goes by when I fly that I do not consider myself in practice mode, this is ever changing and you learn something new everytime you fly, and you hone your skills at the same time.

Some people might not agree, but I think that is a great video Biggles - thanks for sharing "the early days"!  I need to do more of that instead of practicing in wide open spaces. I have so much trouble judging just how high I am in FPV (usually way too high).  Were you flying in acro mode there, or self-level?  I have been using mostly Horizon mode while learning - have only been trying acro (airmode now) only in LOS so I can keep an "external eye" on the attitude of the craft.  Thanks!

Thanks scotty, from memory I think I was in Horizon mode as it was a year ago, or could have been just around the time I switched 100% to rate. I honestly cannot remember.

Either way, it was very helpful to me in throttle control and judging distances, I did many flights like that. I have always felt it is important to learn control of your quad before going hell bent for leather in the "wild" so to speak. Truth is, much easier to fly fast than it is slow, but flying fast and low is a whole new ball game, and is by far my favourite.  is a rush.
