My ultimate 112mm 3" Props build
#1
I was thinking of building the ultimate 130 quad, it takes about a month for parts to arrive to me (usually from banggood) so this build took a few month, and i made many setup changes even while the previouse part had yet to arrive, I had two (or was it three? Thinking )  frames already when this frame showed up:

http://www.banggood.com/X112-112MM-X-Type-Mini-Racing-Frame-Kite-with-3MM-4MM-Bottom-Plate-p-1121099.html

Its a 112mm frame with 45 degree for the FC stack, and it is the absolute minimum for 3" props  Cool
From the start I knew my motors will be the Brotherhobby 1407 3600kv, they are the ultimate motors, there are now talks of putting 4 or even 5' on them for best racer quads!!

http://www.banggood.com/Brotherhobby-Tornado-T1-1407-3600KV-4S-Racing-Edition-Brushless-Motor-for-FPV-Racer-p-1097174.html

I had already purchased reacerstar 4in1 20A ESC with 5v bec and an OMNIBUSF4 fc when I saw the Flytower F4 which is an F4 Omnibus with OSD FC with an Included VTX switchable 25mw/200mw/400mw and a 4in1 40A ESC at only 26g!!
So i ordered 3.... (2 for ultimate twin racers I have in mind hahah)

http://www.banggood.com/Flytower-F4-Flight-Controller-25200400mW-Switchable-FPV-Transmitter-OSD-Dshot-40A-4-In-1-ESC-PDB-p-1120746.html

I added a lightweight UFL circular antenna which i new would be a problem later.....

Since I now use the Turnigy Evolution for Rx i took the micro Flysky A8S Rx:

http://www.banggood.com/Flysky-FS-A8S-2_4G-8CH-Mini-Receiver-with-PPM-i-BUS-SBUS-Output-p-1092861.html

But now also ordered the Frsky FD1000 for my taranis, it has better stated range and telemetry  Cool

http://www.banggood.com/Mini-FrSky-8CH-LR1000-Receiver-Long-Range-Compatible-FrSky-X9D-Taranis-Taranis-Plus-XJT-p-1132192.html

At first i used this surveilzone CMOS 520tvl camera (it sucked...):

http://www.surveilzone.com/DC5-24V-Super...FPV-g-1473

And thats it, this is what came out:

Frame, motors and Flytower 4in1 ESC:

Adding The Flytower F4 FC:

Adding the Rx:

This is the finished frame and now the troubles start haha  Tongue

No way to mount the cam so I made some creative black hot glue art work (horrible i know), I also put heatshrink on the antenna for protection (double on the horror show...) :

Self weight (pic taken after some beating haha)

For Batteries, i used 550mah 4S Infinity 70C:
http://www.banggood.com/Infinity-4S-14_8V-550mAH-70C-Lipo-Battery-with-XT60-Plug-Connector-p-1097185.html

I shortened the power lead and changed to lighter XT60U:
http://www.banggood.com/Infinity-4S-14_8V-550mAH-70C-Lipo-Battery-with-XT60-Plug-Connector-p-1097185.html

I also don't use velcro only M3 dual lock velcro stickers on battery and frame:
http://www.banggood.com/5-x-3M-Dual-Lock-Double-Sided-Attachment-Tape-p-1061912.html

AUW 213!!! nice!!

So the camera was soooo bad I ended up making the frame higher with 45mm blue standoffs (20mm+25mm actually)
And attached the new Mini Runcam swift:
http://www.banggood.com/Runcam-Swift-Mini-130-Degree-2_5mm-Micro-FPV-Camera-PALNTSC-OrangeBlack-2222mm-p-1127889.html

this also allowed me to protect the Antenna inside the build and still get great reception  Cool only 7g more for the camera and standoffs, I guess it was alot of hot gulue hahah  Tongue

Videos soon, I want to attach my new Mini Mobius 2 with wide B lens to it somehow (actually its not that new it was just waiting for this build for a loong loong time):

Yep, where the frame ended trouble begun....
It would be perfect with a canopy!

I do think the current "design" is better, question is how durable are those high standoffs.

Well, if they are too durable, you risk ripping the FC out with them when you tumble...just sayin'

The standoffs are 6010 Aluminum and the screws seems much stonger, just sayin' hahah
I also thought it was a problem, but remember, this is a <250g AUW quad it has much less crash momentum.

Meanwhile, the plot thickens, I added the Mobius mini and wanted to make sure I have a jello free flight tomorrow when I test, I remembered that with my first HQ 3x3x3 tri props I had no problem even with the first CMOS camera and problems started after moving to the HQ 3x3x4 quad props, So, went on to replace back to tri blades when I noticed that one of the props was actually upside down!! and it actually flew like this!! and not so bad!!! those tiny transparent props  ROFL ROFL ROFL

Here's how it looks:

My thoughts exactly.

Although those long metal standoffs will certainly break the nylon standoffs they are connected to in a crash, they will transmit significant shearing stress to the flight controller at the same time. Circuit boards don't like that kind of stress and it will kill your flight controller very quickly.

I understand the motivation for them, but if you really want a 3" frame that has great protection for a good quality FPV camera, I'd say Armattan's MRP 130 is probably one of the best.

No nylon standoffs here Big Grin
I know this frame, heavy and ugly (IMO)
I took the 112 3mm (optional 4mm btw) for weight and minimal size, figured i'll deal with mounting the camera later, which indeed i did..... hahah

Oh, it's metal all the way through then? Keep us posted on how long the flight controller lasts! Big Grin
