my mediocre video collection thread

Old spot again, but this time it was quite a short session - mate broke his quad, then (this) my last flight i landed early because two hunters approached and politely asked us to leave since they had to hunt down an injured animal in that area. Flying wise, same trick 3 times and the usual turns... Smile

Being a late replier, I can only confirm what the other members already said: Nice, smooth & stylish flying, very soothing to watch! - Style doesn't go out of style.. Big Grin
I think it's sort of relieving as well for us newbies to see that not everything (..in the protected environment of this forum) has to be like a speckless shiny corporate product: We're all gathering around this great process called learning curve, and we enjoy the ride together, everybody with his and her own challenges. Ever since you've helped me out w the information about the motors I am stuck on larger stator motors, Unseen's reflections on RF unleashed what today is my real-life RF understanding..
..of course a spotless video is nice, but we have to be aware that there is a video producing industry promoting a rather uneducational fashion of video composition - that's what we got used to.
The "raw" vids, though - and I'm not talking about your music, fftunes!! This subject hurts me, I suffer with you when you say you can't exercise your passion - fundraising? I'm in!! How about our intofpv-DJ? I really dig your music style, and we could have you compose a soundcloud fpvquadvideo-database.., just was thinking..),
the uncovered sound of the air turbulence and motor scream and oscillations and stuff: While actually flying, at least I am too busy to pay attention to the details happening acustically. When watching the video afterwards, one gets many informations and hints: "Uuhhmm, that sounded weird - I need to check that..! Big Grin )
So long, gotta go to a police interview because of "drone" flying (yes, on a sunday - sheeeshh..) - that's going to be fun!
Thanks again for sharing your experiences and golden hours,

Throttle up, everybody!

Thank you both Big Grin

@campy, i'll have to dig for music soon again, making a public playlist is a good idea. Anitek has loads of good tracks, but most are almost a bit short for a full flight, also i'd like to find more non-copyrighted music in order to not have ads on my vids... Oh, and curious how your "police story" turns out... my mate and me were lucky so far. Wink

I can vouch for Anitek... good music... glad you showed it to me!

One of the good parts with anitek even though it's short is most times there is an intro or outro without a beat. This would allow a mix without the need for beatmatching. Of course any basic loop based audio software could also help with some beat matching and you could just combine multiple songs that way. That's what I've done a few times. I have an old copy of Acid pro which gives me the ability to add VSTs and control the parameters so I was able to apply EQ in my mixed-music videos which goes a long way for blending the tracks @ the mix.

Nice!

While I have practiced this trick a bit in simulators I still haven't had a place where I can develop it in the real world. So many times I've seen folks do it on cranes like that and I think it'd be a great place to do it, I just dont have a lot of spots like that where I am that aren't barricaded off with no-tresspassing signs everywhere.

Thank you all Big Grin I never tried any FPV sims (battlefield helicopters don't count, they can't flip Wink ) - but i kept wrapping my head around those reverse loops a lot. 2 tips i can share so far:
  • having my cameras at only 30° and wanting to keep the crane arm in view, i tried to especially focus on going over it low and slow, so i'd have less distance to travel backwards
  • during my first few attempts, i noticed it helps giving a bit of throttle during the inverted fall, in order to start the backwards movement early
But yeah, having the opportunity to fly a crane like that is the main thing. What i found surprisingly difficult: to judge my speed and height, since there's no other objects that help orientation up there. Other than that, it was still scary to go full throttle backwards, even though there's no real risk involved - according to my friends i never fell lower than half the height of the crane.

Carefully flying around a new spot. Since i didn't have an HD cam ready, friend gave me his foxeer box for a few flights.

With a better video editor one could probably get more out of the dark parts, but with mine i only increased gamma a tiny bit in order to not make the bright parts bleach out. In less difficult lighting i think this cam could perform very well.

First test of the runcam3. Everything on default, bit of saturation added in post-processing.

looks good man try to upscale to 2,7k youtube will give you a lot more of bitrate when you upload to 2,7k so your 1080p footage will look sharper and so on!
But I like the natural color from your runcam, maybe look at your light settings there should be a lot of improvement.

and as always great flying on a nice spot!

Thx, yeah i see the pixellation but weird enough that it's only on some players, especially the codec youtube provides for chrome applications... On my old xp firefox it looks much better. Also, sadly, my video editor can only do 1080p max Smile

And about the cam, yeah i guess it was on auto white balance, that looked pretty similar on the runcam 2 - not bad actually, just a bit bleached-out... "sunny" or "cloudy" preset might give it more color.
