My Introduction
#16
The i6X is what I use (actually an iRangeX clone of the FlySky, if you want to save ~ $10), and if you check out my FlySky buyers guide you will see that (IMO) the i6X is the only FlySky radio worth getting. If you can stretch the budget a little, you could start out with the FullSpeed Bat-100 which uses brushless motors, it is PNF (Plug and Fly) so you will need to buy a charger, the TX and RX separately, and solder a receiver to the FC yourself, but that will give you an idea of the scale of the soldering that is an inherent part of the hobby, and also a sense of satisfaction that you have actually added a component to a model to make it work! Unusually for a PNF the Bat does come with a battery included.

The Bat uses 1s batteries so it is in a similar class to the QX 95, in fact they use the same props, but the brushless motors will have a bit more power which really helps to recover from your first attempts at flips and rolls! These GNB batteries should serve pretty well as spares, and this charger is pretty cheap and has good reviews, (make sure you don't get the LiHv option, unless you have LiHv batteries).

Edit to add, the 450mAh 25C batteries you have will be ok for the Bat (depending on the connectors), you might find that the higher C rating (discharge rate) of the batteries I linked above, might improve the flying experience though.

Thank you guys. based on Lowlife and kaitylynn's input I went with the QX95S and splurged for the Qx7. I selected the FrySky version on the Qx95S. Is there anything else I will need to get off the ground? Not planning on going flying right away, want to log a few hours into a sim, but want to be ready when it's time. I will go crash my virtual self a few times before I get out with my new craft.

Super excited!! Happy birthday to me says the wife Smile

A few extra batteries is always nice, but no...you should be able to fly once the radio and craft are bound.

Hey guys, so Banggood took for ever to get my order but it finally arrived. I watched a bunch of YouTube videos and read the instructions but I am struggling getting them bound. I was able to create the profile on my X7 and bind it to the QX95S as the green light is solid. I was struggling with arming the motors, but figured it out. Feeling rather proud of myself at the moment. I took my first flight in the living room. Granted it was more of a hover forward back left right, but still an exciting moment. Looking forward to more!

Tomorrow I am going to see if I can figure out how to get the camera to bind with my eachine R051 that connects with my iPhone as a monitor. If anyone knows of any Youtube instructional videos related to this please feel free to share.

Thank you again for your support!

Congrats!  The fun begins now as the littlest blocks start to form a base that will be all your style!

I found this one and find the procedure to be pretty standard.  Basically, power VTX, scan with the R051 that is hooked to your Iphone and fly.

That one was perfect, thank you. I will have to do some work to get some video recordings, but I can snap photos.

Pic is of my first flight with video in the garage.

It looks like your channel freq might be off a little bit by that photo. Might try scanning again to see if it picks up a better lock?

And, YES! I was hooked the first time I saw video from my drone and it has only gotten better from there!!! Congrats! Big Grin

Ya, I tried scanning 5 or 6 times and that was te best I could do. It is not a very expensive piece I got to hook up my iphone. I assumed that was the issue. Some day I will upgrade drones and to real googles. for now it's a start. Thank you for your support!
