My first bando
#1
I've been flying for a long time, but never flown a bando. Always wanted to try, but never found one and pretty sure I wouldn't be brave enough to venture into one. But big thanks to @fpvme for setting me up Big Grin
Amazing spot, so much to explore, but have to admit I was definitely a little intimidated with all the added impending dangers...
Video held up well enough, even the Walksnail 1S vtx with the stock whip, and with a little assistance from fpvme, managed to bring home all my drones in good working order. "Super" flying experience!!

I had a blast out there with you mstc. You've already taught me a lot in this hobby so it was really a treat to be the one sharing something with you this time.

Awesome video. You flew through a few gaps that have made me hesitate, like flying through the water tower arms and the old freestanding elevator shaft.

I used to explore loads of abandoned buildings in high-school, so I'm loving the cross-over with bando popularity in this hobby.
They can be hard to find and hard to explore safely, but something about that decrepit aesthetic just captures my imagination.
Let me know when you're ready for another trip out there!

Gotta love a good bando. Surprised it was your first mstc. You flew that one like it was a normal thing, even nailed some interesting gaps at full tilt. Bandos always make me a bit more wary. The ones I fly offer some nice gaps and spots, but it's a completely different type of flying to the stuff I do in quarries. You have to be more ninja at bandos and accept that if you aren't you will spend some time repairing stuff.

That water tower I could spend an hour just diving it and working out lines, but annoyingly it isn't flat on top, so you can't perch on it. :/ I wonder if you could tag it with a sticker.

Looking forward to more videos of your bando journey.

Here's one analog whoop flight from that day out. This was before I swapped my antenna which cleaned up my image dramatically, but it was my best run of gaps and flips so I wanted to save it for posterity.

Edited to say if I tried to place a sticker on a tower I bet the only thing stuck would be my quad ; )

I was definitely hesitant and wary. I'm used to flying around trees or other soft back yard targets where at most I snag a branch or drop onto some grass, not concrete walls, rebar jungles, water filled pits, and dark hallways with dripping water/hanging obstacles. Most of the my crappy flying was edited out, but definitely lots of room for finding better lines and flying smoother in the coming visits.

As for the water tower, well a slanted roof makes for a nice sliding perch - disarm, start sliding, and rearm just as it drops off... but that trick definitely beyond my abilities and sensibilities.

@fpvme wow didn't realize your reception was so bad, good job you could still fly and hit all those gaps. Maybe time to add a HDzero whoop to your fleet.

Young whippersnappers!

Step back eight years, so iffy analogue, F1/F3 simplistic control using Cleanflight/Baseflight/Betaflight origins, FAR less powerful LiPo, etc, etc..

First watch then state of the art pilot ability as Charpu bashes a bando...............

Then watch a video of its making including some straight from the VTX shots of what little he was seeing!!!

"Young" don't think anyone's called me that in several scores of years...
Is that Charpu's iconic cathedral video, I remember I was so impressed by that when it first came out and wished I could fly like that. But watching it now, is totally different, our drones have made so many advancements... I still have a few builds in the basement from circa the same era...

And interesting Youtube algorithms, although I did not explicitly mention "bando" on my upload, its been serving up a bunch of different bando videos. Each pilot has their own style, but this one definitely caught my attention with some amazing skills and creativity. Inverted yaw spin inside a tight building, reverse diving a chimney stack and directly into a trippy spin...

I think the best videos for freestyle I've watched are the Meekaah ones. He is one of not many pilots that i subbed to on YT.

This one he did 2 weeks back is a total mindfk when he's flying in the warehouse racks.

This abandoned park is near us too, maybe it will be the next place to fly.
This is just the abandoned mini-golf course and castle at the park, but there's an old amphitheater that looks out over a pond and I think has a great vista view. Might be able to explore a lot of the park from there, and it's a pretty big park...

@Pathfinder075 Yup another mind blowing pilot, those racks make for a stunning visual. Something like that just makes you realize even if I had a similar venue and flew a thousand packs, I'd never be able to hit any of those lines.

@fpvme I saw that on your channel, and actually that was my first preference as I always wanted to fly a castle and seemed more in my comfort zone, the big bando looked awfully intimidating...
I will have to dust off my wboops, I think that castle would make a great whoop playground... I see some doors and windows...

I'm worried if you go into the castle you might not come out. It has a real portcullis that's locked!

We'll bring along some minions, or I think I saw an unused fishing rod in the garage Big Grin

I'd be at that castle location and take 30-40 packs with me. It's perfect for ripping all day. So many possible lines. Smile
