Always have a quad with you and ready to go wherever you are. We have been living in this location for about 3.5 years. There is A LOT to see we haven't seen due to LIFE and mostly working on the house. Today we were exploring some areas and I discovered most of those areas have some awesome flying spots. If I had a quad, I would have flown them. I will likely go back and fly some of those, but I learned you need to have a quad with you at all times. That would be what we in the USA call an EDC, every day carry. The only weak link is the LiPo battery. I think I will need to keep a quad in the truck at all times, but put together some Li Ion batteries so they can be kept at full charge for longer times than the LiPos. There was one butte that had awesome colors and topography, it would have made a really cool video....but like I tell all of you, if you don't have video, it didn't happen....

The nice this about the Mavic lipo, it is program to self discharge to storage voltage. Even at storage voltage, I can still get some flying just to capture some footage. I didn't think about flying from a storage charge. Clearly there is enough for a quick 4-5 minute flight like that. Definitely will carry a quad from now on when going new places.

I guess another option if you want maximum flight times is to take a load of storage charged batteries plus a LiPo field charger with you. Then you can either top up any batteries that are at storage charge to full charge on-the-fly from the battery in your truck, or you can use one of the other storage charged batteries as a donor to top up another storage charged battery to full voltage, while obviously being careful not to let the donor battery drop below minimum charge voltage. Yeah, but that means carrying a lot of stuff like when I go fly. I would like to keep it simple and the bare minimums only. Like yesterday, I would have flown some places, and I might never go there again. That's what I'm shooting for. If I really like the spot and it isn't a pain to get back to like yesterday, I will just make a flying day of it. It's those surprising spots that are a one time shot I'm looking at. One of the spots was just amazing. It would have made good video, but equally important was just getting up there and enjoying the flight and checking it all out would have been the best. But it was pretty gnarly getting there. I doubt we will go back....but who knows, never say never.

I have The Japalura in the work van all the time. When I get home, I fly the two charged packs I carry for it and charge another two for "tomorrow". This is how I fly a few packs daily, even if I am feeling totally lazy. SoCal Kaity :D
