hi Martyn,

Welcome to the forum. I think the diatone is a good first choice. If I were to do it all over again it's probably the way I'd go as my GT2 (The slightly older sibling to yours) never has any super-serious repairs needed. They're tough, and quick, and for the most part a decent quad.

As for the camera, I don't know what camera the GT2017s come with but if it's the same as the one that came on the GT2 then the upgrade is a good choice. I never liked the stock camera, even though I believe it was supposed to be a foxeer HS1177... so essentially one of the standards. Plus I agree, the blue looks better... well justified if you ask me Smile

On goggles, I'd say do your research and hold off until you're able to afford a good pair that meets all your needs. Having been a fatshark user the whole time I'd probably explore skyzone and amoway before just jumping into a set of fatsharks... and I would definitely say that Dom V3s or whatever is the most recent version are a better choice than HD3s if you ware going to go the fatshark route.

Welcome Martyn
Nice quad, only thing i am not sure is how the RX antennas are mounting.
It's best to spread them 90degree apart to achieve max range.

Thanks for the comments
I copied the antenna idea from the Whirly Bloke on youtube.
They split to a Y shape just out of shot.
I rethought this and i am thinking of bringing them flat at 90 degrees as you say.?

Only the ends of the antennas actually receive, so it may not be necessary.

Hold the quad in your hand and raise it above your head. Observe how the antennas can (or can't) be seen from the ground.

The whole idea behind keeping them at 90 degrees is that at least one antenna will always be approximately vertical and assuming the antenna on your radio is also vertical, you'll always have a good signal, even if you are rolled hard into a turn.

THANKS Unseen I just based it on the video on youtube as the Whirly Bloke guy is pretty knowledgable and covered the whole topic of attaching rx , binding and configuring tx and quad in beta flight all in one video.

He says he has never lost an antenna to props using this method. That said the fpv antenna is pretty close to the props on this drone but I have an idea or tw for that

Forgot to mention that you have to fit you buzzer as diatone supply one but dont fit it. Easy though
