MXC Taycan
#1
Howdy all!!

I'm not really a noob, but it's been a while and I'm trying to get back into it since my son is now old enough.  I used to fly pretty regularly and I've been knocking the rust off with my 5" marmotte and 3" Crusader.

While cleaning my work bench (translates to shoving things around) I found an MXC Taycan that I bought from Diatone probably 4 years ago.  It's just a frame kit.  I have no idea what to put in it since everything has changed so much.  The biggest question is the motors.  I have a Spektrum DX6 or DX6i that I want to hook up to it.

I'm pretty good at soldering, but I'm not against AIO boards either.  Headset is several years old (Cobra X?) but works pretty well.  If he really gets into it I can spring for something bigger/better, etc.

Any recommendations are greatly appreciated.

20x20mm FC. AIO are nice for space.
4S-6S lipo
Motor 16xx-220x.
ESC 25-40A. it will be dependent on your lipo and motor choice

I did some digging on motor sizes etc.  I'm looking for midrange performance on the motor.  I have more batteries than I can count so I'm good there.  I'll go higher on the esc's just in case my son is throttle happy... which... he will be.  I'll come up with some motors if you'll tell me what you think.

Is the Taycan for your son and is he just learning FPV? If a different setup would be more suitable, I wouldn't be tied down by the cinewhoop frame as it sounds like you have to source most of the parts anyways.

I actually have several quads.  I might use one of the other 3 inch quads and transplant the guts to the Taycan.  The bumper gives it a bit of protection.  He already has some experience flying RC stuff, plays simulators like DCS and IL2 as well as Real flight.  Once he is more solid, I can move the guts back to the 3 inch Crusader frame and go for it.  I also have a couple 5" quads for when he's good enough.
