Mounting Motors?
#1
Having done all the test assembly I need to do with my frame (refer to the Cheap250 build thread) I'm coming to the point where I have to commit things to Loctite and get ready for flight.

So when it comes to mounting motors:
  • Loctite - Yes or No?
  • Is there any trick vibration damping one can do when mounting?
  • Lock-Washers?
Whats have you tried and had success (or spectacular failure) with?

The use of loctite is a good idea, no need to use washers unless your screws are too long, and would not worry about any anti vibration dampening at all.

Loctite - yes. Unless you are using FC with a vibration-vulnerable gyro (ie. naze32 rev6), then just put M3 orings between a spacer and a nut above and below the FC. You *can* mount your motors the same way, but that's shouldn't be necessary. I think your KK board doesn't need too much vibration dampening - you already mounted it on foamy tape right?
Find me on Youtube and Instagram. I currently fly: DRC Aura, NOX5R, Minimalist 112 and drive a scrap RC car

Lochte (blue) would be ok . I always just use 2 screws to mount each motor . Shouldnt have to dampen anything where motors mount.

as you can see everyone will agree with using loctite on your motor mounting screws, but I would also suggest using it on the screws to hold your frame together also. losing a screw on your frame can cause vibration on your quad. a little trick I use is I'll use a cap from a water bottle or something and put a few drops of loctite in it and I'll just dip the tip of each screw before screwing it in this way I don't accidentally put to much so that the whole screw is dripping in it.
