Motors with integrated ESC
#1
So,

Geting back from my long absence in the hobby (a month is like years) I started looking at parts for my new ZMR.

I want to build something with motors @2000kV, and found this:

http://www.readytoflyquads.com/black-wid...grated-esc

It spiked my interest, yet i don't fully like the idea, some functionality must be beneficial here. Maybe for people that dislike soldering, or a cleaner setup.

Dunno.

What I dont like of this combo is that the integrated ESC is kindof low for these motors.
Sure, swinging a 530 might do, but if you want 6 inch, or 4s I think one might need maybe a 25A (or 30?) ESC.

Whats your take on this?

Not having any experience with a Motor/esc combo I could not tell you how good or bad they would be, but

Given a good Motor is around the $25-$30 AUS EACH and good esc's are around $17-$20 each it doesn't take much to see that a Motor/ESC combo of $22.00 may not have the long term life you might expect.

Plus, If you damage a motor you throw away 2 parts instead of one.

I personally would do my research on this type of combo and then make an informed decision on what is right for you and your budget.

i think it would make more sense to buy motor / ESC separately ...
the hobby is moving so fast, it's only possible to upgrade your ESC (swap out) if they are standalone. it will make repair easier as well...

They would make a clean looking build but that's about it, I wouldn't buy them personally.
Current quad: ZMR 250 / DYS SE2205 / Littlebee 20A ESCs / Drone Lab 1500 4S / Naze32 Rev5 / BF 2.7.1
FPV: Runcam Skyplus / Aomway 200mw VTX / Fatshark DomV1

I agree that the low price makes them seem too cheap to be reliable. Only good I can see besides the cleaner build, is that it can be difficult to figure out if the ESC is bad or the motor when a motor starts twitching or acting up. No need to guess with these, just replace one component and be right every time!
