Motors arm in OSD but do not spin up
#1
Sad
Hey fellas,

I got a ZMR250 as a package deal when I bought my quad + Set up. I am having a really hard time and have put countless hours trying to get this thing in the sky. Currently, I have gotten it set up and turned on. Everything is good except... All 4 motors are dead to any input. Through the fatsharks I can see that it arms, the quad also beeps, however the motors do not spin up. Even when armed they do not spin slowly. They do not spin in Cleanflight either. Working backwards, the next logical thing would be wiring or firmware.

Being that I did NOT build this myself, I do not know what kind of components are in this bad boy. I do not know what kind of flight controller board is in there (check the picture) so I just used a naze firmware. I know it flew fine before I started playing with it.

  1. It wouldn’t work with Cleanflight so I reflashed it. The likeliness of all 4 motors going bad is minimal . Same with the ESCs, so I am assuming all 4 haven’t burnt out.
  2. The throttle inputs are not the problem because the motors don’t spin in Cleanflight.
  3. So this narrows the problem to either the firmware I keep thinking (Some help identifying this FC??? Please!!!!)
  4. or the wiring, like they aren’t getting power (I don’t think its this either because it worked before and I don’t remember playing with those wires)
Which Leaves just the the wrong firmware maybe… I don’t know.
WHAT KIND OF FC IS THIS?

Wow! Thank You so much for the quick reply. It seems like a total off brand FC... So, what firmware do you think I should try? On a google search crossed with what is available for download in Betaflight, "flip32F3OSD" seems like the only thing that comes close to firmware which might work. Is there like a "default" firmware out there? I lost the battery to my fatsharks but it came in today, so I haven't tinkered with it until now.

I will report back If anyone is willing to help!

No worries, I'm happy I could help identify it.

Unfortunately I'm not sure which firmware is needed... I have seen in my searching references to MultiWii, but I am unfamiliar with this. I hope someone else here is able to help you further.

I appreciate you looking brotha,
Guess I should just try getting a new FC... Any solid recommendations? I was looking at Joshua BArdwell's Holybro Kakute F4. Im open to suggestions though.

Oscar just updated his 'Best Flight Controller...' article, might give you some idea's on which would best suite your needs.

The dx site says it's a f1 chip and a bit further down calls it "nazer" Smile so the firmware you flashed to it should be fine.

Are the channels working right on the rx tab?

Also, what escs are you using and what motor protocol is selected on configuration page? Could be that the escs are quite old and don't work with oneshot125?

Thank You! That is an amazingly informative review. Better than anything else I have found.

Iv no idea which ESCs these are but here is a picture... Instead of oneshot, which one should I use? I don't know much about that part of BetaF. I have tried them all though, it got a little weird and glitchy with DSHOT150-600 so I don't think I actually tried those ones.

Iv been trying to reflash the firmware as a "Just In Case" thing but now I keep getting a STM32 communication failed, wrong response, expected: 121 (0x79) received: 31 (0x1f)   I looked it up and tried the method described here ( https://medium.com/@arrowcircle/seriousl...d64a471bdd ) but I keep getting a pop up error saying that it is currently in use by something else.

Lastly, The rx channels are not currently working on the rx tab in betaF, they were before... because like I said in the initial post. It would arm but no motors were spinning. If I can figure out how to reflash it again... I will most likely be back to: Rx channels work, it will arm, but motors do not spin. In Beta flight under the motors tab, the motors do no spin either... Oh btw there is no txwizzard in the fpv goggles osd... which I though was weird.

Thank You again You guys, it will be a miracle if I can get this little beast flying again.

Did you try PWM too? Could be that these are older escs that don't work with oneshot125 etc...

The Impulse RC driver tool is usually the easiest fix I've found. There's literally thousands of forum posts and web videos on how to fix DFU mode for flashing its gonna be a little different depending on what your PC is currently seeing the port as. You probably won't even be able to see the port unless you've listed all hidden drivers/ports. It you are frustrated don't try a KISS FC on a PC, you'll lose your mind.
