motor smoked and worked fine?
#1
Just put dys 4000kv motors on my 3" shrieker and did a throttle calibration, and the motors gave me smoke! Was like wtf!

After smoking it's to late to do anything so went on with finishing and did a test hover she flies fine so? I don't know if anyone else ever had this happen? Would this do anything bad to the motors?

Dys esc? I had this happen also. Had my buddy change a setting in blheli and it fixed it. He said the volume for the beep was to high heating the windings up.

I think it might be The volume on your ESC beeping in blheli was turned up all the way!

I have had this happen on many different motors, DYS, EMAX, Xnovas, not all the time, I do a calibration and while it is going through it's paces what appears to be smoke comes from 1 sometime 2 motors, First thoughts are you have killed a motor, But like the OP, I finish up and the motors run fine.

My thoughts on this, and could be way off the mark here.

During the building of the motors at the factory they have have used some form of lube that has a bit of residue on the windings, and it is that residue just smoking when power is attached. No idea if I am right or not.
