Motor jitter
#1
Evening gents,

So, my zmr seems to be plagued by issues.
Truly, not even Windows 2000 gave me so many headaches...

So, flashed betaflight, flashed blheli, and all motors except one are ok.
The one just decides to jitter when powered on.
If I unplug (de-solder) the signal wire, it stops.
The esc was also heating up for no reason.
So I decided to solder the power leads of the "faulty" esc to a different pad on the pdb and plug the signal lead directly to the naze.
Same issue.

I'm lost for a solution. Tomorrow I'm replacing uh with a new spare I have just to test.
Funny thing is that I can bro and the motor responds perfect to input.

Any suggestions are more than welcome!!

Here is a video of the problem

that jitter is completely normal, mostly like to be Min throttle too close to the min range of the ESC...
are you using air mode? if not set your min throttle to 980 even 970 see if the problem goes away...

Motors shouldn't heat up when it's not running, check if your motor screws are touching the motor windings. Another possibility is defective motors, where inside the windings, where the insulation coating is ineffective and causing shorts... easy way to test this is to swap around the problematic motor with one that isn't heating up... if the same motor still heats up then you know there is something wrong with it.

But then why would the other 3 escs not doing the jitter?

So should I put the min throttle of the esc a bit higher than the min throttle of the naze?

probably because they are not calibrated correctly?

can you connect the ESC to BLHeliSuite, and check the PPM min and max values? make sure they all match on all 4 esc's.

Not at home right now, but I'll check asap.

So...that PPM Min/Max throttle setting should match up with with what setting in clean/betaflight:
Min command/max throttle
Or
Min throttle/Max throttle?

no, they don't need to match settings in CF.. just do the calibration again... then match your ESC 2, 3, 4 to ESC 1
