motor calibration
#1
Hi all
I was calibrating my Diatone gt2 200 motors using Betaflight

In Beta flight the procedure goes  exacly as planned, the drone makes all the right sounds and lights and throttle is nice and even, "deep and crisp and even .... sorry slipped into festive mode there Tongue .

When i try throttling up with my Taranis Q X7 tx the motors respond unevenly.

Is this normal or am I missing something in the transmitter.

Using my transmitter for practice in The Drone Racing League and it works fine so gimbals are ok.

Any thoughts? Cool

What is your min_throttle? Have you tried just putting props on and try to take off? If not, go ahead and try it.

Use D-shot. Then you don't need to do any calibration in Betaflight. Most BLHELI_S escs can do this these days. Try DSHOT150 out first to see if the esc can handle it. Also, try reflashing the firmware on your escs before calibration through BLHELI suite.
If it ain't broke, DON'T FIX IT!

Well got my gt200 all fettled and ready to fly Big Grin so just need some nice weather.

Bought a racing drone sim Thinking and have setup my taranis so plenty virtual practice ongoing

Been a bit stormy here and I wish there was somewhere  indoors that is big enough to fly.

I have the turnigy graphene 1.3  5s lipo. Im going to buy more but just wondered if these are the best option or can anyone suggest any others?

A little unsure lipo wise.

5S might be a bit much considering that you never flown before. I believe most are still flying 4S. The cost of 5S is quite a bit more, so you might be wasting your money. But if you think you can handle 5S, more power to you. No pun intended.

I had the graphenes. I didn't find them to worth the money or weight or size different. I had good luck with the regular Turnigy Nanotech with higher C rating. Now I run Indestructable (Indestructable) , Tattu (anywhere) or CNL (Racedayquad).

Thanks Voodoo

I suspected that the 4s lipos would be more cost effective . I was worried that in a few of the videos online people mention how heavy Diatone gt200 was on power.

I have a friend who is just starting to build and flying. He has the FPV fever pretty badly. Every time he is free, the weather just won't give him a break.

Typical quadcopter luck!
I pity you lot, the weather you get in the northern hemisphere.

Your welcome to do so, but honestly the winters here are dry, sunny and still for weeks at a time! Oct and Nov are when it gets cloudy and miserable. At the moment we get lots of thunder storms, generally in the evening after a blazing hot day, it is a welcome relief after the oppressive heat.
