MotoLab Cyclone F3 Flight Controller
#1
I just saw on Facebook that MotoLab is doing a new F3 flight controller called Cyclone F3... looks like a updated version of Tornado.

  • STM32 F3 72Mhz MCU
  • 5V 600mA voltage regulator
Same F3 processor on the MotoLab Tornado and SPRacing F3 boards. The gyroscope/accelerometer will be using SPI rather than I2C for better performance.
The integrated 5V 600mA voltage regulator will allow you to power the flight controller directly from 2-6S LiPo battery, as well as your receiver.

You will be able to run the Betaflight firmware on the Cyclone and have gyro working at 2KHz. As well as raceflight i think.

BLHeli Suite Passthrough should work to flash your BLHeli ESCs, while connected to the flight controller. Additional the Cyclone has 3 hardware UART ports, onboard 5V/12V buzzer driver and serial LED interface.

Supported Receiver types:
  • PPM
  • SBUS
  • Spektrum Satellite

Don't know when it will be released yet but will be sold by imulserc i think.
I love to share and help people! Flying Mini Quad is the best!

Nice FC there are so many F3 FC these days now it's hard to choose Smile but why still making F3 we need F4

Cause the gyros won't give you better data at all.
Look at the KISS FC ... "still" running 1000µs looptime. You really need better hardware, not only faster.
An F4 makes only sense if you want to have a lot of additional hard/software running, like GPS, RTH, Baro, Mag, flight path analysis, Waipoint navigation, etc
Sky is where the fun begins!
Flying: Armattan F1-6 / Cobra 1960kv / KISS / 1800mAh nano's / SPR3 / Betaflight 2kHz
Building: FPV49v4 modified

The Sparky 2 (F4) has right now the best gyro hardware which is the MPU9250 it has way less jitter at 4 and 8khz. Reading RS2K's tests they can provide more noise free data than the MPU60X0s do. That's why there are real benefit of using F4s on 4 or 8Khz gyrosync.

To be ON topic: this Cyclone board has on paper everything that other F3s don't. I hope it will perform such great too, and won't suffer from any hardware problems other boards do.

I've really like flying the Tornado for the last few months, but I'm ready for an integrated step-down and some of the other benefits this new build is offering.
Fly it like you stole it!

Hi guys. I've been looking at getting a Tornado or Cyclone for one of my builds. I just do basic race/acro flying, so I don't need lots of fancy inputs (being able to save Balckbox data on board would be a plus though). Would I be sacfificing anything absolutely necessary if optiing for the Tornado?

Correct me if i am wrong i think one of the draw back with Tornado FC is that you cant do ESC pass through?

Seems to be the case (according to your own post: https://oscarliang.com/flash-esc-via-cleanflight-fc/). That's a deal breaker. Cyclone it is then.
