Moin Moin (hello)
#1
Moin moin (as we say in Hamburg),

I am new to this Forum and just wannted to say hey.
I started this Hobby 6-8 montha ago (with a long winter inbetween with no flying) with a lot of YouTube videos to build up some kind of knowlage. I started of with a Hubsan X4 (very good toy quad to start of) to learn the Basics of flight. Soon after I "upgrated" to a Walkera Rodeo 150 (this is where the fun started) but I soon realised that this kind of a RTF quad is no good when it comes to repairing it because I crashed it or I was helping my friend who has the same quad to repair it. After a lot of fun with this one I knew that I wanted to build my first own mini quad in the 5 Inch area. i like the KISS Setup from Flyduino very much. So for my first build I choose a KISS Setup. And I found out that they are coming also from Hamburg and the onlineshop is 500m away from my place.

1.Build:
QAV-210 (Lumenier)
KISS FC
KISS ESC 24A RE
Emax RS2205 2300KV
DAL Props T5045 (soon changing to the Cyclons V2)
TGY-iA6C Receiver (Turnigy Evolution)
RunCam Swift 2 (initialy it was the Swift 1)
TBS Unify Pro HV VTX
TBS Triumph antenna (soon testing the Pagoda Antenna from Lumenier)
4S 1550mah 75C Lipo from Tattu

Upgrades / Improvements:
DAL Props T5045 to DAL Props T5046C Cyclons V2
RunCam Swift 1 to RunCam Swift 2 (because of the OSD)
Anti-Vibration Fixed Screws for FC (heard about these from Joshua Bardwell) Banggood link
Capacitor (hope to improve the Video Signal) Amazon link

so that is it...now i am practiscing my flying when the weather is getting better.
I will also follow up with my second build that I did. A Betaflight based 5 Inch.

-kleinerbug

PS.: one question does any1 have any experience with the Emax RS2306 2400 or 2700KV Motors on a KISS Setup? what Kind of batteries would be good for something like this?

Again, welcome Kleinerbug_FPV!

Thank You!
I am always on the lookout for new KISS products...
think you should try it once...KISS = Keep It Super Simple
But I absolutely don’t have anything against Betaflight. They do some awesome stuff and give you much more options to expand and add stuff to your quad. will follow up soon with my betaflight quad...but I have to say that it is rather for testing and in my opinion not as nice as the QAV-210.

Hi Kleinerbug!

Those 2306 motors are not as thirsty as you might think if you don't totally overprop them. I have the 2400kv version swinging 6040 two bladed props on a recent build and a 75C 4S 1550mA/h Tattu delivers ample power and flight time.

Welcome to the forum!

Hallo Smile

Yh i bought my early kiss FC's for the keep-it-simple aspect too, but when they started releasing one update after the other (almost betaflight-style) i found it not to be so true anymore... especially when the new configurator began to erase my old FC firmware settings. Sad

PS: Ich glaub ich hab dich auch schon in anderen Foren gesehen...? Wink

Hey kleinerbug, welcome! Great forum as everyone else has said... I am a fan too and always happy to see more of us as we grow with members

Your build sounds like a good one and I am sort of kicking myself for not going with the emax motors on mine. I went from 5045x3s to cyclones and was happy at first until I convered to the 5045x2 bullnoses and for some reason I can't seem to bring myself back to any of my former props since. Not saying it'll work for you but it might be something to consider trying as you experiment Smile

 Oh I'm sure I will Wink I'm still learning (actually always learning Wink aren't we all?) and started with BF because open source is just awesome Wink I did consider going with KISS for my first build though.

any experience on a 5 Inch Setup with these motors? But i would imagine that a tri-blade 5inch would then also not be overproped...at least not one of the aggresive ones. And the Kiss ESCs are limited to 30A anyway...
I tried the DAL cyclonce this weekend...and I am still not sure if I like them...I have the same LiPos (75C 4S 1550mA/h Tattu) and they were having huge voltage drops on punch outs...

They do hammer the battery somewhat on a punch out. I see voltages as low as 2.67V per cell for a fraction of a second in my logs. Confused

Even so, I've not had the battery get unreasonably hot or start to puff, so I reckon they can cope with it.

With the Cyclones and "old" RS2205 (2300KV) on KISS ESCs I was also seeing some drops until 12.6V (3.15V per cell). Do you also run a KISS Setup? On what Kind of ESCs are you running the RS2306?

No, I don't have any KISS stuff (yet). I'm using the RacerStar Lite-S 30A BLHeli_S ESCs that you can get from Banggood.

For the price, they are unbeatable. I have various incarnations of these ESCs and I've never had a problem with them. Apparently, they are made by Cicada and rebranded.

Here is now my second build which I mainly use to test out stuff. It is not the best build imo but it gets the job done. Also this quad was built because I had so many spare parts left over from my QAV-210.

In comparison to my QAV the quad is completely different: true X Frame, underslung battery, betaflight FC …

2.Build:
ARC 200 (not a Frame I would recoment)
LUX V2 (Lumenier)
Favourite Little Bee 30A BlHeli_s Spring ESC
Emax RS2205 2300KV
Azure Power Propeller 5x4.5x3 (They look nice and are quite...but cannot really recommend them)
FS-A8S 2.4Ghz 8CH Mini Receiver (Turnigy Evolution)
RunCam Swift 2
Lumenier TX5G25 Mini 25mW
SpiroNET Cloverleaf Antennen ImmersionRC
4S 1550mah 75C Lipo from Tattu

Nice looking quad!

I really liked the Lux V2. It fixes all the things that were wrong with the V1.

I will follow up with a side view...there you can see the interesting stuff. Also like the LUX V2...in this frame it is quite hard mounted...not so happy about that.

And I forgot the PDB:
RCTech Mini Power Distribution Board with BEC and LC Filter
