Mix of engines
#1
Hi to all,

I have a quad whose stock engines are brushless 2212 1150Kv, few days ago, I ordered two engines of the same reference for have extra engines but they sent me reference 2212 950Kv.
Then, can I mix 950Kv engines with 1150Kv engines?
Another thing: the new engines are X2212.
Does that 'X' have some relevance? I don't know what is the difference between 2212 and X2212...

Many Thanks in advance.

Without links to the motors you are talking about, nobody can tell you what the 'X' means.

I would not advise you to try mixing motors with a different kv rating on the same craft. It will cause the motors to have unequal thrust and while the flight controller may be able to compensate for it, the craft will not fly well and could even be dangerous as it will be difficult to control.

Hi,
As for the original engines, these were sold by gearbest but already disappeared from stock. I attached here a photo for reference.

The new engines (X2212) are these:

Thanks.

I don't think the "X" means anything in particular, but my comment about not mixing different kv motors, even if the stator width and height are the same, still stands.

Ok. unseen
Thanks for your replies.
Considering your advice (I'm very duteous Rolleyes ) I have bought this pack of 4 engines to have all engines of the same kv and reference and avoid risks.
