Mini quad drowned in pool
#1
Hello my quad crashed and fell in a 2 meters deep swimming pool and remained submerged for 20 seconds at least before i can dive to recover it.
The first thing i done after unplugging lipo was to rinse in distilled water the quad and dried for 3 hours on direct August sunnlight.
Now it is waiting in a big tupperware above(not in contact) a layer of dehydrating antimoisture salts. After the first 24 hours i estracted a couple of tablespoos of water. Today after another 24 hours the new salts are not melted and no more water estracted.
What i have to do now? May i try to connect now or it will smoke? i read that escs will probably burn if powered. Mybe i can save my brand new Swift 2?
Thanks and sorry for my English.

I also drowned my quad last weekend (except it was ~3 minutes in quite dirty water). So far, after cleaning I only connected FC to BF (so far so good). Today will try other parts.
Hope at least some of them survived.
Guess I'll watch this thread before I plug battery Smile

Great almost everything works fine!!! The anti moisture salts trick workef fine. Just the motors became noisier probably because the lube in the bearings dissolved and some problems exporting blackbox logs , it crash bf configurator every time i try to download log

Could it be your configurator auto-updated? There seem to be some compatibility problems with latest versions.

Regarding the drowned quad, my friend drowned his about 3 times in the last 3 weeks, and everything worked fine after drying. He even started joking about it, saying that's his way of cleaning his quads now... ROFL

Thanks a lot. In fact before the swim it was getting harder and slower to download the logs. Now it is impossibile.
Any suggestion to fix it?

Probably because you used gun oil to lubricate them. Gun oil is much lower viscosity than the grease that the bearings are packed with so the gun oil will actually dissolve the grease and leave the bearings with only the gun oil.

As grease repels water anyway, it's unlikely that the quad's swimming lesson would have displaced the grease from the bearings and they would have been just fine after you'd dried everything out.

Unfortunately, your bearings will now need re-lubricating every time you fly and probably won't last very long.

I forgot to ask/mention if you guys have pics or video of the drownings you can ask to have yourselves adorned with the very fetching blue 'scuba' badge you see me proudly wearing under my name! Just post your evidence to the forum achievements thread

If it IS just a compatibility issue, you would have to manually install an older version of the configurator, which would probably be 3.1.1 for betaflight firmware versions 3.0.1 to 3.1.6.

I recorded the dive with dominator dvr but when the quad touched the water the video feed instantly gone to statics. Sorry no blueish footage from underwater. Maybe the 600mw at 5,8ghz is not enough to penetrate the walls nor the 2mt of liquid
