Discovery of the patch antenna MenaceRC Invader .
The MenaceRC Invader is a small antenna type "patch" for the video receiving our drones.
For me, this is by far the best patch antenna that I could test up here!
It is small, light and has a nice look and great performance.
The patch antennas concentrate their right to receive beam, with a high rejection rate behind and on the sides.
This will mean that we will well receive the signals to the antenna (strong and below), the much weaker signals on the sides and even less strong signals behind the antenna.
To give you an idea in practice: with a 200mW transmitter, yet we hear 1,6km if it is located in front of the antenna and only 150m if it is located behind the antenna.
In general rule is coupled, on a diversity receiver, a patch antenna and a clover leaf antenna.
This allows to use the clover leaf for close signals located all around us and use the patch antenna to receive distant signals (or low) ahead.
Specification of manufacturer:
Frequency Range: 5645 - 5945 MHz
Gain: 6.5 dBi
right or left polarization (LHCP or RHCP) - choice of polarization when ordering
Connector SMA (directly compatible Fatshark and SkyZone)
Dimensions: 45mm x 41mm x 16mm
Weight: 11grams
Overview
Front view, the design is nice and exchange of traditional patch in square format.
Rear view and its SMA connector which connects adapter without Fatshark and SkyZone.
41mm wide (as indicated by the manufacturer)
45mm long (as indicated by the manufacturer)
14mm (16mm indicated by the manufacturer), but I have not given the height of the central welding point on the antenna so the size is respected.
PCB thickness: 1.6mm
Weight also respected around 0.8g
Comparative
I have a aomway patch antenna, eachine a TBS .. and this one compared them MenaceRC the Invader is the antenna that offers me the best performance.
Theoretically it offers more than 1.5dBi TBS and 0.5dBi more than the eachine or aomway.
Practically I, for equivalent distance between the transmitter and the antenna, fewer glitches with patch antenna Invader!
The day I get a measurement device for antenna, I will certainly make strict comparative measures to actually demonstrate the difference rather than give a personal opinion.
