Mach2 and AKK VTX might not work with Betaflight 3.3
#1
Beware Mach 2 and AKK VTX users, Smart Audio might not work in Betaflight's new version 3.3 (which will be released in early 2018)

This is due to a bug in the SmartAudio implementation in these VTX.

If these VTX manufacturers decide to fix the bug in future VTX's, the currently sold VTX would be left with no Smart Audio capability with the latest BF firmware.

However they could also create a custom build of the latest firmware and leave this "bug" in to continue support of Smart Audio to the VTX affected.

I will update this post as we hear more.

I bought 2 mach 2 VTx's recently. I tested one in a build without propellers and found it gave a significantly cleaner video feed than my unify pro that it replaced. I also preferred direct soldering to the connectors on my tramp hv & unify pro. I would have to see how it fares over time but it was shaping up to be my new favorite VTx over the tramp hv. This issue may change that.
Flying: Talon 6S 6" 2407s 381g no bat, Martian 3, 5" 2205s sooo heavy + gopro session 5 573g AUW, Aurora 5" 2205s 280g no bat, Druckbaer 3" 1404s 172g AUW 3S 550, BQE Megapixel 2.5" 1107s 139g AUW 3S 550, BabyHawk R 2.5" 164g AUW 3S 550 (stock except microeagle, CRSF, 2.5" arms) and maybe 3 more, for now...

Update from Racedayquads and AKK:

--- THE SITUATION ---
The problem only pertains to SmartAudio. Regular vTX functions are perfect. The problem affects all uses of SmartAudio: Lua script, OSD, etc.
Mach 2 SmartAudio works fine on BF 3.2.
On KISS and RaceFlight Mach 2 SmartAudio is reported not to work.
When BF 3.3 comes out, Mach 2 SmartAudio will not work.
This is due to incorrect implementation of SmartAudio by AKK and not because of any mistake in BF.

--- THE FIX ---
RDQ and AKK are working on a solution that will let customers upgrade their firmware in the field.
The absolute earliest that BF 3.3 is scheduled to release is January 1, 2018. So RDQ and AKK have minimum 1 month to fix the code and create documentation on how customers can install the code.
Upgrading the firmware is something that can in theory be done over the SmartAudio line without even unwiring it from the FC. In other words, plug in USB, input some commands on your computer, firmware is fixed. BUT DON'T GET YOUR HOPES UP YET it is still very early and details are being worked out.

Any update? I really like these VTX!

I'll have to do some digging but I think I read somewhere that this issue has been addressed (or will be in 3.4?)

Officially, it will not be fix with 3.4. But you can still use 3.4 modified firmware that is a branch from the the official BF. But Betaflight team is maintaining the branch.
