Lumenier RX2205/RB2205 2400 motors released
#1
Just noticed the announcement this morning, rather pricey and no performance data yet.

They seem to be light, only 24g and there's a Skitso edition with ceramic bearings, could be interesting.

There was a posting about them on Multirotors International a few days ago.  I am not a huge fan of all the advertising hype surrounding "sponsored Pilot endorsements".  These motors will not make you fly like Skitzo or any other top rated pilot.

The aggressive marketing by some companies costs them a lot of cash, for which they try and recoup by jacking the prices up on there motors.

Also, it is common knowledge that a lot of motors are made by one company and then re branded to others to use as there own, and the cost varies between these suppliers.

I have no doubt they are good motors, or at least on first impressions. But that said, Ceramic bearings on a race quad motor is really asking for trouble, one good hard knock on the motor and you could crack the bearing, get sand and dirt in them and they are stuffed.

Personally I think they are over priced and honestly believe you can get better motors suited to your own style of flying and within your budget.

Any Pilot endorsed/sponsored item will not make you a better pilot.

Just my opinion. Smile

I agree with your points and as the sport gets bigger, I'm sure we'll see more and more "celebrity" endorsements.

Although I will say that the QAV210, despite it's pilot endorsement, is the best frame I've had so far, so I'll keep an open mind (and an empty wallet no less).

I have 2 QAV 210's and I think they are excellent, only let down by a weak top plate around the VTX hole.

Me too, I've snapped two top plates in the last 6 months but replaced them with the 2mm version which appears to be a little better. I've stopped using the VTX hole as I found a top mounted antenna seems to take a lot of abuse with my flying and I too am a member of the Biggles landing club Wink

Yeah you are right
Man these (Skitzo edition) motors are the most expensive mini quad motors I have seen
And it does not matter your setup what matters is your skills
