Lockdown for hobby related activities in England has finally been lifted :-)
#1
So after two months of being stuck in our premises, from today we are allowed out of our houses for non-essential reasons including driving across to the other side of the country if we so desire, as long as we stick to social distancing rules by not getting close to members of other households.

This means I will now be able to trudge off to my isolated field where there are no other souls about and do a spot of flying without feeling like a criminal, and without risking arrest or a fine. Obviously I'm not going to be one of the idiots and will be sensible about doing that so I don't put either myself or others at risk.

I class the hobby of flying quads under the same umbrella as the hobbies of golf, angling and tennis as stated in the government advice below Smile

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/explainers-52530518

The UK Government Wrote:Can I exercise more?

The rules have been relaxed so people in England can now spend more time outdoors "for leisure purposes". That includes sunbathing.

There is no limit to the amount of exercise allowed.

Activities such as golf, angling and tennis are permitted, but only alone, with members of your household or with one other person from another household. If you do exercise with someone you don't live with, remember social distancing rules still apply.

Playgrounds and outdoor gyms, where there is a higher risk of close contact and touching surfaces, remain shut.

Households are also able to drive to other destinations in England - such as parks and beaches. But they should not travel to Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland, where people are still being told to avoid any travel which is not essential.

Yay!! Driving to parks and beaches is OK too. (As well as other more "isolated fields".) Big Grin

We're on 4-day working weeks at the moment and are off Fridays, so tomorrow night I am charging every single battery I own. Even the stupid sized ones that only fit on a quad I don't particularly like. No mAh will be spared.

Damn, it's going to be good to stretch my wings.

The ground is for dead people.

Of course, now that you've said that and have placed the curse, this is what the weather in the UK will look like on Friday (and over the weekend) Big Grin

As you know My R349 is ready for the maiden thanks for your help on that, My kopis 2 is also ready after the tbs crossfire diversity nano upgrade and so is a Lava X

FYI, the FPV UK which I'm a member of as are a number other UK pilots on here have released the following news statement regarding RC model flying under the eased lockdown restrictions.

https://www.fpvuk.org/rc-model-and-drone-flying-covid-19-update

FPV UK Wrote:If any further guidance was needed regarding the recommencement of RC model and drone flying in England, this letter from the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport is surely it.

‘It is vital that people continue to be active during the Covid-19 outbreak to support their physical and mental health.’

‘All outdoor sports and physical activities are now permitted, without time limit’.

‘From 13 May, people are allowed to go outside, alone, with members of their household or with one person from outside of their household.’

Please remember that this only applies in England.  Crossing borders from other countries to go flying in England would likely break the law.

Members may wish to print this letter and carry it with them when flying, in case they are challenged by a zealous individual or Police officer.

Went out for a flap yesterday, and I was grinning like a fool for the next 4 hours.

Of course, 'grinning like a fool' may not be a good indicator of mental health, but I sure felt happier.

I didn't manage to get out yesterday due to other commitments, but I flew 5 packs today. It's the first time my 5" had been in the air in 2 months. However, someone seems to have given away my secret flying location. All the previous times I've been there I've never seen another single soul. Today I encounter 6 sets of dog walkers and a couple who decided to plonk themselves down right in the middle of my flying field Rolleyes Tough Poop I went flying anyway Big Grin You won't get any videos because I'm too lazy and can't be arsed to edit anything so you will have to take my word for it, but needless to say I came back home feeling exhilarated and on a complete high Big Grin

Great to hear Snow! Glad you got in some stick time bro.

All this social distancing has spread people out. I too have been seeing people here and there where I usually don't see another sole.
