Hi, I recently got into FPV and am having problems with batteries. My first two were given to me by someone and I think they mistreated them so I got rid of one and the other is still "useable". So I got a new one and did my research on how to treat it and want to know if it is normal that I'm getting about 2-3 minutes of flight time from it (tattu 4s). Also, my fat shark battery, after one use (about 5 minutes), is getting charging errors saying voltage low and my voltage checker says one cell has 0 volts and the other has about 5 volts. If you can answer any of my issues and give other battery and fpv tips good for a beginner that'd be great! Thanks so much! I hope to hear back

In short 2-3 mins on your Tattu 4s can be pretty normal. It really is dependent on your quad set up and your flying style. What voltage are you landing at? To really play it safe and prolong your batteries you should be landing around 3.7 volts per cell (14.8 total). Also the older batteries get or the more cycles they've had the less time you will get out of them.

I just posted earlier about getting 10 min flight time out of my Tattu 4s on my 5 inch race quad. It was very calm cruising around. I usually get 4:40 if If I'm doing harder freestyle flying. Props make a huge difference. What is your prop, motor, esc setup?


With the fatshark battery make sure you are NOT balance charging it. The white plug on the battery is not a balancer it is for powering the fan on the faceplate.

1. what's your setup? (your quad's spec and your battery's capacity and C rating)
2. what's the total voltage of the pack? they have integrated balance circuit so you can charge them without the balance lead.

I landed with about 3.7 volts each, I was flying in the wind, would that give me a shorter fly time on the battery? Also, I was flying 4 bladed HQ Props, I don't know the type or material but they are a bendy material if that means anything to you

Yeah wind will lower flight time because your FC has to work harder to compensate for it. Also the 4 blade props are pulling more battery. Try a 5x4x3 triblade and I think you will get 4 mins.

Fatshark are tricky to charge because you have to charge without connecting the JST plug. Like Ryan said, not a balance port. So, you have to set your charger to charge without balance. The problem is, some charger doesn't allow it. Alternative, try fast charge. If not, you will probably have to use NiMH setting. I has to do that until my charger finally released a new firmware.
