Lightwight micro FPV frame
#1
Hi guys,

Can anyone recommend a lightweight micro frame suitable for brushed motors (0820) and FPV ?
I was thinking Diatone Beta110 H4 v.2 which is quite nice.
Does anyone have any experience with this product btw. ?

Cheers!

If you want 3D printed frames, there are several posted in this forum.

If you want carbon fiber, I would check out http://rotoriousfpv.com/
They have several models.

Hi closcotty,

Thanks for sharing. RotoriousFPV frame are priced 20GBP + .. a bit too much for crashing it after 10 minutes of flying Wink
I would rather be more interested in those cheap clones from Aliexpress.

This is what I found so far:
- https://www.aliexpress.com/item/New-Arri...93169.html
- https://www.aliexpress.com/item/2016-New...01949.html

... and Diatone one mentioned in my initial post.

That's the great thing about micros, they're pretty well indestructible. Micro Motor Warehouse has a few nice frames, I 've got the Carbon-H and the Reggae Shark. And their service is second to none.

Mmmm... the integrated board looks interesting despite the fact I had bad experience so far with PCB integrated frames (CJMCU).
Nevertheless 8,8g is really good result... I can smell long flight time on this one Wink

Errrr so - I've had all those frames you listed from aliexpress.

the first one is very strong and overall really nice. HOWEVER - for 820 motor you need to find a method for affixing the motors. The 820 motors slide in reasonably snug - but don't leave much room for padding and will definitely fall out unless affixed somehow.  The one I got off banggood came with all sorts of hardware and grommets for 7mm and maybe 6mm motors. I don't think a wrap of electrical tape would fit in there even with 820's though. I glued my motors in and the frame transmitted a lot of vibrations to the FC and it was generally a pain.  At 120 it'll practically fit 3" props ... Not that you'd need that. Try as I did - this frame always rattled and was generally not as efficient as the others below. but perhaps you have a good method for keeping the motors in.

The second one is VERY light. it's a great frame with rubber grommets to absorb vibrations.  I broke mine pretty quickly. Some people claim to break it just with their fingers putting the motors in ... It's 1mm carbon all around. Which is realllllllllly thin. If you're feeling reasonably confident and don't crash too often / fly over very soft surfaces it could work well.  admittedly I broke mine on a gosh darn ninja branch over pavement.

The THIRD one is 1.5 mm carbon and is ALSO super light. It's also my favorite so far. It's setup well for these longer and thin FCs like the scisky and whatnot. The only issue is that the back post can block your access to the USB port to your FC. Some FCs have the USB off to one side so it might not be a problem in that case.

off the three listed above (all of which I bought off Banggood.com) I think the third is the only one that I'd purchase again.  The micro I had that ran off that frame was the best I've had so far. On banggood the second frame is really cheap... So I might consider getting that again.  I just had a wonderful weekend of building two drones and then subsequently DESTROYING two ... And I was just thinking about this... Thinking that that third one is the winner.  The quad I had on that frame was quiet, smooth and powerful.

FYI Almost all are cheaper on Banggood ... any reason you want to avoid that site?

IMO Banggood is a great website with good customer service. I have received faulty items once in a while, but they have sent me new ones. I even ordered Fatshark goggles, taranis and such expensive equipment without any problems

FYI - I just rebuilt a quad on the 120 frame.

This quad was smooth and powerful on the Lantian 105 and MI110 - by comparison - on the 120mm frame it rattles, shakes, and doesn't appear as powerful (that frame is a little heavier, but this seems different).

Probably need to drop the pids a bit. I just can't seem to find a good way to deal with the vibrations on this frame with 820 motors.

Don't get me wrong. It certainly works - but those other frames just make a much nicer quad.

I have this 90mm frame from Amazon and love it. Has stood up to quite a bit of abuse, even falling into a smoldering firepit for about 20 seconds before I got to it.

I, too, would be raving about the 90mm and 120mm frames if I hadn't tasted the sweet sweet nectar that is a frame designed around the holy rubber grommet of vibration absorption.

It does come with a ton of extra hardware. heck! you were ready to buy in at $20 for the 120 frame - I'd just get the 90/120mm AND the MI110 and call it a day.
