Learning to Fly |
14-Aug-2016, 12:25 PM Ok...promised I would update this from time to time. Haven't done a lot of flying recently just because it's been so damn hot here recently (temps. in the upper 90's with heat indices from 110 - 115)......us old guys don't like the heat. Anyway...I was out yesterday for a few minutes flying my 160. Now I am not sure how I managed to hit this damn tree dead center (other then the fact my flying sucks), but I sure enough did. I plan on running up to one of the local schools this afternoon where I've got a little more space and crash there for a while...woohoo!!! "Damn the torpedoes!!! Full speed ahead!!!" 14-Aug-2016, 12:53 PM I am not laughing........................................LMAO. ok I am laughing....... Been there, done that, and all the while you are thinking How on earth did I just do that.. LMAOOOO 14-Aug-2016, 01:18 PM Yep........the way I figure it, I've only got about 300 trees left before I get em all!! "Damn the torpedoes!!! Full speed ahead!!!" 14-Aug-2016, 01:23 PM That's great sirdude! (Yes, hard to keep from laughing out loud...) Now that one 20 second flight should qualify you for both Pole Dancer and Tree Hugger. 14-Aug-2016, 01:24 PM (14-Aug-2016, 01:23 PM)sloscotty Wrote: That's great sirdude! Naw....I think it's gotta be "stuck" in the tree, not bouncing off of it!! hahaha. However, I am completely sure it won't be long before I stick in one. : ) (14-Aug-2016, 01:24 PM)BigglesFPV Wrote: LOL, that's the spirit...LOL, We should have a Tree Lopper Award along side the Tree Hugger award. Yeah....that's the ticket....a "tree trimmer" award. I do have a few seedlings that are not as tall as they once were. : ) "Damn the torpedoes!!! Full speed ahead!!!" 14-Aug-2016, 03:20 PM great stuff sirdude. from what I can tell it looked like that first tree you passed "pushed" you into that second tree. totally wasn't your fault. ok maybe just slightly your fault. 14-Aug-2016, 04:18 PM (14-Aug-2016, 03:20 PM)JimmyLe813 Wrote: great stuff sirdude. from what I can tell it looked like that first tree you passed "pushed" you into that second tree. totally wasn't your fault. ok maybe just slightly your fault. I am completely sure that it was in no way my fault.....not even a little bit........ok..well maybe a little. That first tree was probably pissed from all the times I've hit IT. Maybe I was drunk and didn't know what I was doing? No....not that either......well, eventually I WILL miss that tree.....and the house is right behind it................. : ) "Damn the torpedoes!!! Full speed ahead!!!" 17-Aug-2016, 05:28 PM Was practicing FPV today and my 160 got away from me (big surprise there). Normally with the transmitter on and the moters not spinning, it will beep. but I couldn't hear anything. I went back and looked at the video and could approximate where it went into the woods. Walked over there and cut the transmitter off and it started beeping. Had it not been for the vedio and the buzzer, I would not have found it. It was about 20 feet back in dense brush and trees and it was about 15 feet up in a very large rodendren bush...hey Oscar....does that qualify me for the tree hugger award?? Anyway...for those of you who may not have buzzers on your machine, condiser putting one on......it is just about literally worth it's weight in gold! "Damn the torpedoes!!! Full speed ahead!!!" 18-Aug-2016, 01:21 AM Hey, my Rhododendrons are bigger than some of my trees! (However, "Rhododendron Hugger" doesn't quite have the same ring to it..... ) 18-Aug-2016, 03:18 AM You deserve one just for being able to spell it!!!! "Damn the torpedoes!!! Full speed ahead!!!" 18-Aug-2016, 03:32 AM 18-Aug-2016, 03:38 AM Agreed.......but at least he did that....I was too lazy (well too much of a hurry) to do it. "Damn the torpedoes!!! Full speed ahead!!!" 18-Aug-2016, 09:29 AM (18-Aug-2016, 03:32 AM)BigglesFPV Wrote: I was thinking the same thing..bet he doesnt really know how to spell, he googled it, and entered something like "Rotowdendron" and it came back with did you mean Rhododendron ? I spelled it correctly the first time (but then I checked ) Actually I've had to spell it before...I once posted a picture of my rhododendron somewhere (there, I did it again - HA!) |
