Leak: Flyduino F7 flight controller - KISS FC V2
#1
The spec of KISS FC v2 was leaked recently on Flyduino's website but it was quickly deleted. Luckily someone made a copy!

MCU: STM32F722RET6 @ 216 MHz
IMU: MPU6000
Weight: 5g
Mounting: 3x3cm (mit 3,3mm Löchern)
Voltage: 2-6S (direkt)
Tri, Y4 and Y6 * Quad + / x * Hexa + / x
The needed USB driver will be installed when you connect the flight controller the first time. It could take several minutes till you can bind the flight controller to the GUI.
Supported FrSky Sbus, Graupner SumD, TBS CROSSFIRE and Multiplex SRXL as S-Port, HOTT, TBS CROSSFIRE and Sensorbus.
Turtle mode supported
5x Serial
RunCam Split supported
RGB Led supported
DShot 2400
FW via GUI
Advanced adaptive Filter
Advanced Motor Layout
Windows, OSX, Android supported

The hardware looks pretty standard, but it's retailed for 66 Euro! ($77)
I guess you are mainly paying for their R&D and services Flyduino provide, rather than the hardware for that price.
One interesting thing is it still runs on 1KHz looptime, so I think the F7 chip would probably allow this board to survive a long time before the resource runs out

DShot 2400?
1KHz loop time?

Does not compute. Huh

well, they have been using DShot1200 with 1Khz looptime... why not DShot2400? Smile

Equally pointless.

I think it's just a selling point for those who love looking at numbers Smile
I've been switching between DShot600 and DShot1200 (on 8K/8K) and i can't really tell the difference... maybe I am not a good enough pilot!

Edit: looks like the new KISS FC V2 supports 8K Looptime now

F7!!! Now that's something i didn't expect...

About the price - i think you mostly pay for the firmware. Smile I watched FinalGlideAUS' youtube-livestream last night and he described how excited Felix (the main brain behind all KISS stuff) got telling him about all the fancy math he can do with this flight controller... It was also funny how FinalGlide said he personally never used anything faster than dshot600, and dshot2400 might just be Felix' way of showing the middle finger to all the other esc manufacturers. ROFL

@unseen: personally i somehow understand the point of not jumping the high-freq loop hype - at a certain point, the fractions of gradual change measured by the gyro get so small that they're actually smaller than any potential noise creeping in... and i find it hard to imagine that helps smooth flying. Smile

I completely agree with you.

The speed at which the physical system - the motors and propellers - can respond to a change in throttle is the limiting factor. Things like 32KHz gyro sampling, 8KHz loop times and DShot 2400 are questionable improvements.

More instructions per second for smarter filtering, better sensor fusion and advanced features is much more interesting. If you keep your fastest loop time at 2KHz, the F4 still has plenty of number crunching ability.

A guest writer of mine shared a bit more info and his thought about this new FC and the new KISS 32A ESC's on my blog

That Steele PDB has to be one of the worst ideas I've seen. When will people learn that using a PCB as part of your frame's structure is a really bad idea?

If you have a nasty crash and break an arm on your Alien, instead of just having to replace the arm, the chances are that you'll have to replace your £35 PDB as well.

agree Smile
structural concern is one thing, with the AIO FC getting popular that PDB is becoming dead weight.
have you seen the new Reverb frame designed by Chad Nowak? that's much like an Alien frame V2 Smile

Very much an Alien V2.

Where's the innovation?

Is Artur around this forum? The one question I was wondering during the review which was not mentioned was: was the flight feel definitely better than the V1!?

The most important question!

Almost everyone on dedicated topic on rcgroups says that v2 flies better than v1 except some dead ducks issues in combination with the new 32A Kiss ESCs.
