It looks like it's a common issue which is mentioned in the following reddit post. It seems that YouTube have implemented something recently to try and circumvent ad blockers...

OK, I just tried it and you are right. This just happened today, as I have never had this issue before. Sad

OK, I've found a solution. The following extension will automatically click the "Skip Ads" button on a YouTube ad. So this coupled with one of the ad blockers seems an acceptable solution for now. You see a brief flash as the extension deals with the skip button but that is all. Way better than watching a white screen and/or having to manually click the skip button.

I just checked today and my uBlock is still blocking YT ads. No white screen with skip ads button. cross my finger it stays this way for me.

Hi, I think it must be a constant fight between YT and AdBlock. I use AdBlock and see the white screens sometimes, but most of the times all ads are fully removed

Nope, not for me unfortunately. If I disable the Youtube Video Skip Ad Trigger, Adblock Plus, and uBlock Origin extensions and install/enable the uBlock (the non-Origin version) instead, I still get the white "Skip Ads" screen at the beginning of monetised videos. Try any of JB's videos because those are all monetised with ads.

I even tried it through my VPN which also has it's own built-in ad blocker but I still get the white ad screen. Oh well. I'll guess I'll just have to continue using the Youtube Video Skip Ad Trigger workaround.
