Kalyn Doerr decided to released the code on Github, which you might it had always been closed source: https://github.com/rs2k/RaceFlight-One More info about this drama: https://quadmeup.com/raceflight-one-sour...that-mean/ • Posts: 12 Threads: 3 Likes Received: 14 in 5 posts Likes Given: 0 Joined: Jun 2017 Reputation: 3 I would not call it "leaked". Code was deliberately published on GitHub. But well, if you do not know why something happening, it's because of money. Must have missed that Hard to catch up with everything. TBS released the full specifications of the SmartAudio: http://intofpv.com/t-smartaudio-is-now-o...ce-sort-of http://www.team-blacksheep.com/tbs_smartaudio_rev08.pdf This is NOT an open source but at least everybody, who will be cloning SmartAudio probably will be doing it right (look at the AKK case). • Posts: 1,590 Threads: 89 Likes Received: 1,283 in 768 posts Likes Given: 1,274 Joined: Jan 2017 Reputation: 31 (06-Dec-2017, 04:15 PM)Tom BD Bad Wrote: Fool me once..! An interesting thought... if he were to slap a GNU license on it wouldn't it make it compliant with the original license? I mean technically this move could make raceflight legit couldn't it? carl.vegas Current Quads: Operational: Diatone GT2 200 In need of repair: Bumble Bee, tehStein, Slightly modified Vortex 250 • Posts: 2,286 Threads: 38 Likes Received: 1,527 in 995 posts Likes Given: 1,881 Joined: Apr 2016 Reputation: 72 Having downloaded the 'leaked' RaceFlight code and had a look at it, it would seem that the vast majority of the code is actually written from scratch. Quite an impressive achievement by RS2K given the short time. However, the general quality of the code is quite poor, particularly the code generated by Preston. For someone who calls himself 'proggod', his coding is a million miles away from god like. Now RS2K is working to add a fast Kalman filter to the Betaflight code. As this is being discussed on RCG, a 160 post member pops up and starts making claims about Boris and other team member's skills and qualifications and then comes out with: "If said Kalman filter is the same stuff as the Paf thing from the leaked RF1 source code, it's completely useless and just acts as a lowpass filter, ..." "It's exactly the same implementation, just rewritten to look differently." I smell a rat. It's just too convenient that RS2K leaves Raceflight under a cloud and publishes the Raceflight One source code only to pop up days later adding a filter to Betaflight that an unknown starts claiming is plagiarised from Raceflight One. Sounds like a great way to get Betaflight shut down on Github by sending a DMCA complaint claiming that Betaflight contains copyrighted code stolen from Raceflight One. for sure! • Posts: 2,286 Threads: 38 Likes Received: 1,527 in 995 posts Likes Given: 1,881 Joined: Apr 2016 Reputation: 72 21-Dec-2017, 03:00 AM (This post was last modified: 21-Dec-2017, 03:00 AM by unseen.) As someone who has been a programmer all of his working life, I think the code speaks volumes about how it was developed. Unless you're a software developer, it's pretty bland. • |
