KISS FC with/without KISS ESC
#1
Recently I had the chance to do a comparison of two setups:

#1 KISS FC + KISS ESC 24A
#2 KISS FC + DYS XM20A.

Basically to see how well KISS FC works with non-kiss ESC's. Both setup with same props, same motors and same lipos. Used same rates on both.

Had an impression that #1 gets more punch, and feels smoother.
Test ended when #2 hit the ninja branch, with combination of DAL props and high speed I have damaged and burned one Cobra motor.
At the very end all motors were hot, not sure why, maybe due to vibrations, and PID not fully tuned.

I will test more and report back

good to hear a real world comparison. I hear often the kiss esc are 'smoother'. I guess its because they are 32 bit. I have some 32bit ESC on the way to go with my Kiss FC, and will put in the same frame as a 4k Betaflight, Multishot XM20 build, to also compare...

Smoother because of the hardware PWM between the gate driver and the MCU. The original KISS 18A and 30A are actually Atmel based MCUs. The difference is really hardware PWM. 32 bit makes very little difference if any at all. The KISS 24A ESC is using probably 10% of the MCU at normal operating ranges.

I am no top pilot and try hard not to get drawn into all the techy stuff, I live in the real world where all the tech stuff on paper means diddly squat to me. If I build a quad with whatever ESC's , FC and motors and it flys good for me , that is all that matters.

Are KISS esc's better than other brands?  I dunno, I have had tried a lot of esc's and always come back to the LB 20's and LB 30's. I have had DYS sn 20's burn up in flight, had a 1 24 amp KISS esc burst into flames within 30 seconds of plugging the lipo in.

Sure it is good to know what works and what doesn't, but for most of us, lets be honest, we couldn't care less if it has a XEON, multishot MP3 Dilithium based chipset with twin overhead double cam frangie wankles.  If it works, it's in, if it doesn't, it's out. Big Grin.

Also, for what is is worth, I never could get my KISS FC working properly, ended up giving 2 away , swapped one for a DoDo board and 1 sits in a drawer gathering dust.
