This is my first Build log so please don't punch me to hard ^^
This is a Work in Progress Build log I will add soon more picture and stuff!
I have build many Quads but this time I got 6 Prototypes of my own design quad so Let's start with the design
1. Design your own frame Kdrone V1 is born
maybe some of you know what I mean you own or owned many different frames and setups every single one have his own pros and cons but there is always something missing...
So i started to draft some simple sketches and finally i started designing with a CAD program (Solid Works)
after several changes and starting from new the first design was ready but pictures say more than 1000 words
Main Goal was to make sure to have a minimum surface of the frame itself low wight and also some good crash behaviors
and at least an easy to maintain (race frame)
Also a goal was that all my TBS Gear (Cube and Crossfire must sit in that frame but also other stuff)
Another design rule was that it will be able to take a 1500mha battery on top or on the bottom
so when i will to fly with a gopro the cam is up and the lipo is down (frame is to small for all up, but maybe i will change that in v2 more testing is needet)
Uniybody is 4mm or 3mm all other parts are 2mm strong
2. Building a Kdrone V1 Race Copter
I have got 6 Test frames in the first patch (five 3mm and one 4mm mainbody) , man i was proud finally after around 40-50 hours of designing and thinking and starting over and so... the real frames are here and yeah it all fits nice together!
then the first milestone the wight is good for me maybe I will add more holes in the V2 but first build
I have build all 6 frames with different setup I must take some more picture will add them soon
Here a TBS Cube picture
This build is really easy
First add a cube then a HS117 then the cossfire and then connect the motors and you are ready!
Motors are ZMX Fusion X25 2300KV
here some picture of the electronic test for the first Dshot test quad (you can see this also on my Dshot setup guide)
3. Software Setup and Test Flight
On all this 6 Setups i installed Betaflight 3.1.0 Alpha to be able to fly Dshot600
Testquad 1 TBS Cube with Colibri Race (changed to extern ESC after first try with orginal cube)
betaflight_3.1.0_COLIBRI_RACE Build 831
Testquad 2 Raceflight Betaflight CC3D REVO F4 STM32F405 Flight Controller with Vbat/Buzzer BG Clone
betaflight_3.1.0_CC3D Build 831
Testquad 3 LUX 32-bit Processor Flight Controller Support PPM or Serial RX For Multirotor Racing BG Clone
betaflight_3.1.0_LUX_RACE Build 831

Testquad 4 STF4
Testquad 5 F3 V4 Flight Control Board AIO 25mW 200mW 600mW Switchable Transmitter OSD BEC PDB Current Sensor
betaflight_3.1.0_SPRACINGF3 Build 831
Testquad 6 STM32F4 F4 V3.0 Racing
betaflight_3.1.0_BLUEJAYF4 Build 831
on all 6 Frames i have diffrent ESC like DYSXS30A, Litlebee30A, Racestar30A, Gemfan Maveric, TBS 25A Bulletproof, and so on
I switch the esc at the moment from Frame to Frame to find the best feeling buddys (maybe i have to much time )
more details about fc and looptime and so you can find in my Dshot Setup Guide
For me it is always the same Setup Prozess (i will add some picture soon)
First Flash the actual Firmware
than connect and setup the right RX channel
Next tap config Sbus and Serial protocol, Arimode on Telemetry on
The ESC config part is also explained in my dshot Guide
So after flashing and setup the ESC i used the Dshot 600 Protocol and set the min and max throttle to 1000/2000
after that i to mostly change the pid´s manly the RC Expo to 1,5 and higer
the last 2 Steps checking the arm mode and motor direction when the copter arms
(Video of this part will come)
So here you have a video from one of my first test flight with the new setups
4. Crash test and other fun stuff like changing design after testing
Work in Progress
Chrash Test maybe i will get the tree huger badge for that?!?
After serval test flights here the first V2 Design changes, so far i learnd that the frame can easly lighter and it is strong enough
So for now this is the end but soon more Footage and setup and build pictures and so on!
Edit 22.12.2016
add test and setup video from F3 V4 AIO Board
