Kareareadrone Talon 6 inch, second day of flight: Rain and trees
#1
*Aahhh, it's always the same, with those newbies: For ages, you don't read anything from them, and then all of a sudden they spam the forum with their clumsy amateur videos, *tsss... Rolleyes Doh

It's the second day I fly my beloved Talon 6 inch from kareareadrone.com
Quality and machining of both CF and anodized CNC-7075 aluminum are impeccable, and the quad is very nicely balanced. The vertical arms may be the hype of the moment, but the "backlash" from the prop air hitting the arms always troubled me. As a matter of fact, the Talon's not tuned at all, but already sounds pretty darn clean. *wow..
I'm in no way affiliated with kareareadrone, btw. Dong-Yen Ryu & his family and team are really very focused on customer service: In their FB group, one always gets an answer quick and they do their best to resolve all the problems that pop up with new developments..
Enough chitchat, here's the footage:

Luck and Love and everlasting Lipos to everyone! High Five

Looks pretty stable Thumbs Up did you notice a direct difference compared to "normal" arms?

Personally i'm not convinced by the vertical arm idea. Of course it will be more efficient regarding direct prop turbulence, but for forward flight to me it seems like more air resistance unless you fly beyond 45 degree angle...

Definitely a tough place to fly! Nice to see it in the air after seeing it on Instagram.

I am not sure if it's the path I'll ever go but its cool to watch you do it!

Heya fftunes,

you're right, those vertical arms convey an immediate feeling of stability. The difference is noticeable as well in cornering - the quad seems to drift less to the side. It influences the flying style a bit in the direction of "point and shoot", because of the speed you have to decide very early where you want to go.
Another thing I noticed is reduced drag in all directions: As well descent, meaning less (inverted) hangtime! One day we will correct this with the esc's, but for now this is something to consider.
The developer is working at additional wings at the side instead of the torque bars, let's see how that'll feel!
I think it's a very interesting experience and I like it a lot. Maybe one could even say that it feels a bit like having ducted fans.. The task of such a frame probably is oriented more towards racing, but since I'm training a bit racing style myself at the moment, in order to integrate it into my freestyle flying, this is well welcome.
Concerning the forward drag, I must say that it's got a very efficient low-altitude cruise, and that it's just really fast, I can't judge the angle but I'm seeing more ground than usual  Wink

Thanks, buddy!
..I've had a hard time coordinating my spare time with my flying buddy, lately. Additionally, the Swiss seem to have an exceptional momentary focus on "drones", which is tiresome. I'm still looking for "my" place to fly, where I can pop up anytime and fly in peace. Anyway, I'm orienting myself towards a "gipsy" flying style, meaning just 2-4 lipos per spot, then move on.
Disadvantages: Little time to get used to spots, only over time when coming back to them. Lots of packing and unpacking gear. Guess I'll cut a foam board for the trunk of my car where I have everything ready to rip while being protected from thrashing around while driving
Advantages: Practice! Adaptation is everything..
You get to see lots of new places, it's very entertaining. Most important: I avoid getting on people's nerves, and I'm hard to spot. By the time you think to know where I'm standing, I'm already gone  Wink
