thanx for the welcome! Tongue
I have no ambitions, to tell the truth, to impress anyone - way too absorbed by the wonders of the technologies and the possibilities resulting from it. I used to have a a jewellery manufacturing company a couple of years ago, which I had to give up out of personal reasons (yes, there's a female involved Poop), however I really missed the possibility of coming home, changing clothes and go into my shop, which was sporting 50 tons + of machinery & alloy melting equipment at the time. Friends were stepping by like that, with something to fix. Cars, lawn-mowers, bicycles, rc stuff, kitchen accessories - you name it. I had a crane lifting 5 tons, a 5-axis milling machine (from the 70s! - glorious manual analogue precision..) a.s.f.
I have my shop crammed together inside a rented garage, for the moment. I'm telling you I miss the access to my machines a damn lot. Cry
Ok, yesterday I went to the garage and got out my old stone-setting table (total 150 kg of wood), hieved it up to my living room and installed it next to the tv. I installed as well my binocular microscope (8-40x magnification, continuously adjustable) and the battery chargers, now waiting for the soldering stuff & my orders from banggood & aliexpress ROFL ROFL ROFL
Guess you guys know the feeling, waiting for deliveries ROFL ROFL ROFL ROFL ROFL
So long, hasta priesto,
do & b well!
Smile E

Waiting for deliveries is probably one of the hardest things to get used to for me. Here I am an amazon junkie... not only am I used to 2 day delivery but in the Atlanta area often same-day is available for free! And now I have to wait a week for something to be in stock? or 3 weeks for something to arrive from China! OMG... but, I am getting over it.

Tracking packages as they travel the world and stalking your postman are absolutely strong features of the hobby!

It's only now when my children are grown that the amount of time I have that is mine has become sufficient to immerse myself in a hobby this complicated.

The fact that all of my income is mine to decide over since I got divorced also helps quite a lot! Big Grin

Heya! - I've just recovered (financially) from my last 7-year-long relationship, and it took me 4 years. Guess that's it for me, as far as females are concerned. Too much work and yearning so badly to spend time outside with FPV quads, *sigh..
Unluckily, my Taranis or other components seem to have declared war to me. Hope to solve that problem soon,
since just looking at quads and not being able to fly them is worse than not having them around reminding me,
so if I don't solve my problem soon (posted a thread about it under motors & esc..), I fear I'll drop out before I could even start.
*bugger..

However:
Keep it up & enjoy! Staying a kid throughout life seems to be a very honorable goal to me..

..it actually uses up all my "private" patience, so none left for females  ROFL
I guess quads are the safer alternative, however Cool
Yup, had to wait for 1 month for things to arrive to Swiss customs, were they lay around another 2 weeks. As the beloved package finally arrived, I spent the whole night trying to flash Taranis & connecting to the RX, which worked out, but once trying without PC, nothing happens. This is still so. *ouch..
Since I still don't have one single "real" quad flying (..I don't really consider the Mavic, that's a beetle compared to real quads..), so I don't know how long my patience & frustration tolerance will last.
Keep it up & be well!

Yikes... I should probably not complain too much since at least in the US there are some great hobby shops for the important stuff like batteries and antennas (as I've now learned)...

As for the Mavic... sure it may be a robot... and maybe it's not fast... but that thing is super cool... and to think it can pack away in that tiny little case! Here I am into racing quads full blown but even I am like "well maybe I can diverge my way over to a camera platform briefly"... but no I'll let my buddy be the camera guy :p I'll just make sure he comes out to fly to get some footage of the area and the flying...

As for getting set up when you finally get the equipment... let me tell you I spent at least 5-7 hours bench time before my first legit flight between the toy (Bat) and the vortex... it was mixed feelings at times but once I got out there it was all worth it... It's the realizing that each of those learning processes mean 8-10 hours of "crap I am not ready" the first time but then the second time it's more like "wait, I think I did it this way and not that way" and you're done in an hour... then the third time it's about 10 minutes getting there... that's when it's like "holy crap I am learning!"... if you're a learning nut like I am (and I know you're smart from other posts so you probably are) the enjoyment from that alone is worth the frustration.

Keep it up! you'll get in the air soon enough buddy!

Heya! - living in Aarau, at the moment - You?
Great knowing there's a fella who is trying to get things through customs as well ;-)
No, seriously: In this hobby one needs all the help you can get, it appears :-)
Let's exchange experiences & hopefully fly together sometime?
Have a good rest of the week, fly safe & take care!

Hasta priesto,

Thank you Carl!! Heart
Those were some sweet phrases of compassion & motivation, really..
Good to know I'm not the only one fearing to debilitate inside soldering fumes ;-)
Nah, seriously: At the moment spent about 20 hours, and that's quite embarrassing admitting, without even "a little hop into the air", but I guess I just have to merge my thinking with further experience on hardware, firmware, compatibility etc..
Concerning the Mavic: Please don't get me wrong, I LOVE that thingy! I was looking forward to using the Mavic as well for recognition before flying FPV - obvious that "she" would come along (..and yeah, the size-factor makes it the perfect picture-guerilla for filming throughout Europe - in places not entirely legal, let's say..)

Thing is I'm too stressed out at work these weeks (..and it will last about until end of may), but the more "other" stuff I have to do, the greater the gravity that FPV exerts on me becomes! I don't think I've ever been this passionate about a girl ROFL ROFL ROFL
However,
THANK YOU WARMLY for your support, means a lot to me!
All the very best, in harmony with your quad-kharma & exilarating flights!
Read you soon,
Emanuele
