Is Active braking regenerative?

Active braking... Is it regenerative? If so how much?
I would think a lot could be lost in just heat.

Yes and No.

Active braking happens so quickly it is not useful in terms of increasing battery life. I have measured over 10A flowing in reverse from a single motor on some motor/prop combination during strong braking sequences, but it only lasts for maybe 2-3 ms.

So until we have some technology break through in power system used in quadcopters... You won't see much regenerative property in active braking yet.
