iRangeX IR8M TX
#1
$80, the IR8M supports a very wide range of TX protocols including:
  • Frsky
  • Spketrum DSM2/DSMX
  • Flysky
  • Futaba
  • Walkera
  • Syma
  • Hubsan
  • Hisky
  • … And many other protocols commonly used in Chinese toy quadcopters
[Image: AH7jVpkl.jpg]

The basic specs are:
  • 2.4Ghz, 8 channels
  • 6 switches, 2 pots
  • Powered by a 2S LiPo battery, or 4 x “AA” 1.5V batteries
  • 2.8inch LCD screen with backlight – 128 x 64 pixel resolution
  • Dimension: 208 x 143 x 51mm

Not going to repeat myself, but there is some more info over on my blog, and some of my thoughts Smile

What's your thoughts on this TX?

I'm eyeballing this thing since the gimbals on my i6 start to go loose. I don't want to be limited to one protocol like I was up to this point (and buying a multiprotocol "module" for my dying radio is not an option).

I've read that taranis q x7 was limited and certain LUA scripts were not working (EDIT: not sure if this is still true). Also getting one would mean also changing all my RXs.

The Jumper multiprotocols gimbals are tiny, even compared to my small FS i6. Not very good for my monstrous hands Smile

This looks to be an interesting option - I wouldn't need to change the RXs and I would be able to choose whatever I'd like in the future - including Frsky receivers integrated on some boards (hello pepperfish FC). One thing I'm wondering about is if the way multiprotocol is implemented in this radio introduces any latency into the system? I hope some oscilloscope operator will be able to answer this question in the near future Smile

Also - this could be either a deviation (like the Jumper) or OpenTX (one can dream eh?)
Find me on Youtube and Instagram. I currently fly: DRC Aura, NOX5R, Minimalist 112 and drive a scrap RC car

I will buy more than 1 of these if they come with OpenTX LOL Big Grin but I really doubt it...
If i was getting this i would probably just use it on micro quads and toy grade quads, would be handy to control all of them with just one TX.
But I don't think i would use it on larger models like mini quads, because of the missing features like LUA scripts and so on... and the gimbals are probably not as good as the Taranis...

Looks like they are all 3-position since they are resting at the middle.
But those are rendered images so we can only confirm when it's out...

It does look interesting! Aside from the multi-protocol, I like the accessibility of the pitch and throttle trims. I think that the buttons on the left handle could be helpful for changing OSD options, etc in flight, if they don't get in the way, I can see this being quite a natural place for the thumb to fall. I wonder if they are on the other handle if you get mode 1, doubt it!?
